We bought a CHATEAU! - THEN & NOW - 1 YEAR (in 35 minutes) TIMELAPSE - Chateau de Bruges

The 31st March 2023 marked 365 days since Graham and Rachel collected the keys to our beautiful new home - Chateau de Bruges.
Although some areas of the chateau were dated, neglected and abandoned by its previous owners most of the chateau was in really good condition for its age. However, with its 10 bedrooms and 6 communal rooms but only two working toilets in the chateau, it was clear that we had taken on a big project.
Luckily, with Grahams experience, the help of many friends and family and a strong desire to do it right, we have what it takes to renovate this historic castle into a luxury hotel, events and retreats location.
When renovating such a historical building we appreciate how important it is to pay homage to its original features. We are striving to exhibit a perfect blend of the comforts of modern luxury and the need to restore original historic details.

Try putting window hardware etc. that is covered in paint into a slow cooker set on "high"for a day or so and then plunge into ice cold water. The paint will come right off. No chemicals required.

I have been in the trade since 1950, I was a main contractor to Trust House Forte and the Ritz Hotel Piccadilly and many more places of prestige, I was very impressed with the talent and work ethic, in particular the upholstery by the young lady, keep up the good work..

I've enjoyed this recap (normally I don't). I just realized that every bathroom you've installed is completely unique - that's a special detail that other chateaux don't have. It seems that many owners use one design for all the bathrooms which is easy to buy for and install, but quite "plain vanilla" in the end. You've done very well in making each suite distinctive. Really, it's remarkable how much you three have achieved.

THIS is how a modern château should look imo. I do understand those who try to replicate the period styles and aesthetic... but not every château needs to be a museum. This is gorgeous. Shame about the trees though. 😢

I’d love to see some blue ceilings. Not blue, or BLUE just think the lightest blue, a kiss of blue at first light. This effect looks great in a room with crown moulding and a nice mid tone wall color. Dad, great job on the plaster!
