@@giannidato5633 Thank you. It was hard choosing the correct time. Most of his fanbase is in the US but I'm aware he is quite popular in Germany as well. I'm glad you get to see the rerun.

Played a gig with Louie in Sydney in the early 90s I was about 23 He was subbing in our show. I immediately knew he was world class but we weren't introduced until the break in the set. In the break I was told his name was Louie Shelton. Even at that age I knew who he was. I am 53 now.

Louie is a hero. It's incredible that these people are not more celebrated because they literally shaped pop music as it exists today and made a difference in everyone's life cause, even if a person hasn't listened to any of the songs the Wrecking Crew recorded, which is extremely unlikely, they definitely love a song that only exists because the Wrecking Crew existed, because they are so influential to this day. Honestly i am fascinated by them and i am so thankful.

Talking about Louie in particular, I'm a musician who gave up on music because of many factors in my life but learning about him made me want to pick up the guitar again and I've been having a great time even if the rest of my life is crumbling

Louie has played many songs that I love dearly, including the solo on Neil Diamond's Play Me, the Box Scaggs, and Seals and Crofts. The funny thing is, I'd never heard of him until I saw your '52 Tele podcast. Thank You for introducing me to such an outstanding player.

Having been a Blues Bass player for years, I love how Louie Shelton states that roots from the Blues are his best advice for up and coming guitar players to put your soul into any style of music you have the opportunity to play.

I just learned about who Louie Shelton was, that he did all that great guitar work on radio songs from my youth. The last few days I've been binge watching Louie's videos, which brought me here. I dig this channel man - you should have far more viewers. I'll try to get the word, channel some people here hopefully. Cheers!

I wish I could have watched this live. Louie Shelton is a national treasure. I did not know until recently he was the guitar on Last Train To Clarksville. The Monkees were my very first love of rock music as an 8 year old kid in Northern California in 1975. Louie's guitar track on that song has been permanently burned into my conscious since childhood and one of the very reasons I begged my parents to buy me my first guitar. I wish I could have thanked him for being part of the soundtrack of my youth as the Carpenters and many of his other records were in heavy rotation in our home. The fact he got to see John Lennon during the lost weekend period is legendary in itself.

@@RickHollis wow thanks!!! Louie is so much more than a guitar player. He’s one of the few artists who make their instrument say something to you. He doesn’t play the guitar, he makes it sing.

What a super duper guy and guitarist. I'm sure his son is very good as well. I don't know of any other guitarist who makes notes sound so beautiful. The intro of "Last Train To Clarksville" is just mind boggling how you can see the music as well as hear it. When you can see, hear, taste and smell the music, you know it's good. How did he know what to play to make every note count so much? I'd like to know exactly what was borrowed from Wes Montgomery in the solo discussed using octaves.

Hi Rick, First off - Big Thanks to Louie for taking the time to share his insights and for you to organising this chat - much appreciated! Was great to be on the chat with you guys live last night (even though 2am here in UK I managed to stay with it 'til the very end!). Was cool to hear Louie gave such interesting response to my question about the mid-70's Lennon sessions - in your next chat might be worth exploring Phil Spector in more detail as he clearly has a strong point of view about him (assuming he can say what he really thinks for legal reasons)!! Also nice to hear that Louie is also a big fan of John and the Beatles work. Good luck with the channel and all the best from sunny Devon, England!

It’s Wichita Lineman (not linesman). And there’s nothing wrong with helping out if a guest can’t recall a name. Obviously he was thinking of producer George Martin when he referred to “the guy who did all the arranging” for the Beatles.

I remember hearing about Louie Shelton a few years ago and I might have read about him in a book I bought about the Wrecking Crew, but it was from a scene that's long gone now. I saw an interview Rick did with Louie a few days ago and I thought it was very enlightening and interesting. I lived in Australia and it's nice to know that's where Louie now calls home. I'm not going to subscribe to this channel though because I feel that anyone who goes overboard with asking for Likes or begging for Subscriptions leaves me thinking that there must be a better way. Kind of like the look in Louie's eyes as Rick was asking and begging. It was a sad end to the interview...
