@Tyler-hk4wo5 ай бұрын
@@SweetenedCondensedMilk around 1% of people detransition as you put it. That's an incredibly successful medical intervention. Around 1/3 of people regret getting knee replacement surgery for instance. Also the majority of people who detransition who give reasons behind the fact that they detransitioned in studies on the subject, have stated that the reason they did was because they lost their entire social circle, religious groups, and were ostracized in their work environment. It wasn't that the majority of that 1% weren't happy having transitioned, it was how society treated them that caused them to detransition. You can do the research yourself. There are legitimate cases of people who shouldn't have transitioned to begin with as you stated. It just means we haven't completely understood the subject. What we do know is that transitioning has proven to reduce suicidal ideation in those with gender dysphoria. That's where the scientists and researchers are going with the subject. That's where the science so far has led to.

Cool of you to do this. I think a lot of people have hateful opinions of trans people because they just don't understand it. It doesn't help that there aren't a lot of ways to discuss this sort of thing in a civilized way. So this is a really helpful thing to share. Of course, the hateful bigots will never take the time to expand their perspective, but I hope they do. To any one who is transphobic/hateful/bigoted reading this, I get why you don't understand, it's definitely confusing and I get it. But a lot of people have this experience. It's not invalid, clearly, since so many people experience it. So why don't you please try to just listen to these people, instead of trying to decide for yourself the worth of another human being.

@@leonkennedy3398 well there are millions of trans people who are actively experiencing something different. So maybe you have more to learn. Maybe if you simply googled the definition of "gender" you would see it's more than biology. Like, it's literally in the Oxford English definition of "gender" that it expands beyond the confines of biology. I know it's a newer concept to society as a whole, and I thought it was silly when I first heard it. so again, I get why you don't understand, but that doesn't mean you're right and that you can't grow and learn as a human about the human experience.
@Camarilla06 ай бұрын
Don't try to talk down to us normal humans who understand the nuance of the situation as if you have some sort of higher understanding and intelligence, long story short, these people are taught to put way too much stock in gender stereotypes to the point that they think they need to change their physical bodies if they don't fit in with what's expecting from their gender, born in the wrong body doesn't exist, I've literally seen parents say they have a 4 year old boy who plays with barbies and likes dresses so they instantly go, okay this is a girl and they go down this long weird path of turning their boy into a girl rather than understanding that a kid doesn't understand gender stereotypes at all and is just being a kid, I played with barbies when I was a young boy and now I'm a big muscly construction worker who's happily married to a woman. A LOT of women had the tomboy phase where they would climb trees and cut their hair short and hang with the boys and then they grow out of it and have a family when they're older, if it happens nowadays they are manipulated into doing irreversible harm to their bodies before they understand the repercussions of such decisions and then end up being miserable when they find out they were sold a lie and now the life they could have had is impossible. I'm all for people being themselves and being happy, but this is not the way, you don't need to alter yourself physically to be allowed to express yourself. Especially I'm against when this is happening to kids, it's heartbreaking and it makes me so angry that people like you are too caught up chasing virtue that you are completely blinded to common sense and logic.

It seems like a lot of trans figures on the internet can be very defensive/sensitive (I am sure for good reason) and can often be really loud/intense/in-your-face. Not always (and thats fine anyway - each to their own), but sometimes they come across as quite unstable. But I think Ernie does a really good job - is a good example of a down-to-earth, happy member of society, without being combative or preachy. Looks like a straight up dude too - you'd never know he's had to change. He's lucky, sometimes its really obvious and that'd make life super hard I would imagine.

The debate around this topic starts from the philosophical doctrines of nominalism vs realism. ‘Transphobia’ is a contrived term used as a cudgel but there is nothing ‘irrational’ in what is being labeled with such a term, I think most people would simply feel bad but it is in some ways a social contagion and when discussion isn’t allowed about something that has to do with how we as people conceive of reality (along with coercion and medical consequences) frustration comes through and turns into strife.

The medical and scientific community are in unison with helping transgender people. It's the laymen and political groups that have an issue from a social standpoint. Defining being gay or trans as a social contagion is like claiming left handedness is a social contagion. Left handed individuals would lie back in the day when it was seen as demonic and culturally unacceptable. The moment those silly beliefs fell to the wayside, the percentage of left handed people exploded. It wasn't that magically more left handedness came about from social contagion, they were just more honest in being out and open about it. The same arguments about social contagion used against trans people were used against every other group that started out marginalized including gays. It isn't like 70% of the population is gay or trans now. I don't know how old you are but I'm in my 50s and everyone used to claim that "if everyone was gay we the human race would die out" and that statement was just as fearmongering when I was a kid as it is now. It will always be a minority of a minority. Life is going to be okay.

My thing is how can u feel something that u literally aren’t or haven’t experienced. Like come on. genuinely what’s the difference between a Schizo believing they’re being watched or having delusions that they’re a higher power compared 2 this situation? They both believe it but both groups r handled way differently. Instead of calling it mental illness, it may be mentally divergent 2 put it in a more gentle way. Just call it what it is @ the end of the day.

It's easy to laugh at the logical inconsistencies but if we really want to reverse this unhealthy ideology we have to be more tactful. Making fun of them is only going to cause them to further entrench themselves into this new belief system.

It’s simple, they are trans and identify as male. As a straight man myself, I don’t think I’m a lesbian because I like women. Language works pretty well to describe this and you are the one being purposely obtuse to make a bad point.
@xboneyt4856 ай бұрын
@@Turgid_Spleenis yet were you born as male? Why make this social contagion seem simple and totally "normal". If that was the case how do you explain the rising numbers of detransitioning people who've done irreparable damage to themselves like no longer having the ability to have children etc?
@Turgid_Spleenis6 ай бұрын
@@xboneyt485 Most people don’t detransition. Since more trans people feel comfortable transitioning that means there are more available people to detransition. The vast majority of people who transition are positively impacted by it. I’m sure you don’t actually care about trans people based off of how you called it a social contagion, so this comment is more for the people who aren’t already rotten to the core.

@@catharinazaschke lol, you’re proving my point. She was born with a v*gina, so she is a woman. Regardless what you think to be true, that doesn’t mean it’s fact. Every cell of DNA and chromosome in her body is that of a woman. Thats scientific, blatant fact. I will not be forced to have my (correct) speech altered because of your wrongful mindset.
