Always bittersweet when I come to the end of another CWN episode, I try to drag them out as long as possible hahaha. This was so fun, you and Matt just have such a great dynamic (also love your friendship origin story). Would love to see him come back on if he reads First Law to give reactions!! Thanks for the entertainment ;))

I was just listening while working and I heard Court of Owls and have to recommend. I do think there are several other better Batman stories, but the art and paneling of that run is so good. I haven’t collected comics for years, but I kept the labyrinth chapter of that run and it is my favorite chapter of any sort of visual story ever. I’ve never felt so immersed in a chapter and that interaction with the reader is one of the beautiful things I’ve ever seen in physical medium. Other than that chapter my other favorite thing is the cover stories in One Piece. I wish that form of storytelling, where the reader interacts with the pages, was more common, but I think it would need the right types of circumstances.

Loved this episode! Just wanted to say that Bend The Knee is a very therapeutic and special podcast for me. I love y’all’s chapter discussions of the Asoiaf books. Love the theories. The tinfoil hat theories. Everything. I listened to those episodes on deployment on repeat. Can’t wait for yalls HoTD season 2 episodes!

Great episode as always! Hope you change your mind about not streaming on your channel to chat HOTD this season (I always looked forward to tuning in every week last season) but totally understand it would be a lot to make videos for both channels every week! Will your chats on BTK be spoiler free for us who haven't read Fire and Blood?

Dark Knight Returns is great especially as we see Frank Miller begin to develop the Sin City art style, and its pre-911 so he hadn't lost his mind yet. I'm surprised you haven't read it yet, the aged hero going on one last hurrah.

So what happened with the Dune audiobook is really weird - they did a full cast but they did the abridged version. Then when Audible took it over, they wanted to do an unabridged version, but rather than rehire everyone to do just random bits of dialogue, they got Simon Vance to do the rest of it - so he does random bits of dialogue from multiple characters. Weird choice, never seen it done any other time before

I did notice that last time I listened to the Dune audiobook but Simon Vance is one of my favorite narrators so it’s acceptable. 🤗

I don't at all think ADOS will be easier to write for George. I don't think GRRM has the discipline to angle toward the ending (we saw how much he expanded the story in Feast/Dance), so after TWOW is out he probably won't have set himself up well to wrap things up in one book.
