I've been crushing majorly hard on this one guy I met in one of my classes and just like you I just fell in love with this personality and how invested he'd be in me whenever we'd have conversations. I can tell you out of experience that love is beautiful, but not necessary. You can get lucky and happy through so many other ways :) so never put yourself down because of being single or so. It's a natural thing, we are born alone. Mostly society (especially nowdays) is putting pressure on people I feel like. Also it's kinda difficult because you have to find the very right person that fits you because otherwise love is an asshole.

I also believe everything happens for a reason. BUT that doesn't mean that all hope is lost for you. You never know what might happen. I was in the same boat for a while with a friend who was with a girl for over a year and I just tragically pined over him the whole time. Eventually, things didn't work out with them and they broke up and soon after we started dating. It will be a year for us come June and we could not be happier. Sometimes you may just not be ready to be with that person until later on in your life. So, hope is never completely lost. But at the same time don't limit yourself to just him- which I don't think you will.
