As someone who also came from the west coast to the Midwest and found a husband and great boyfriends before him- Chicago is not a city for apps dating. Extremely easy to meet people in person however, find your crowd, and with that comes lots of face to face opportunity that brings great guys in your path, and unique to here, they do actually ask you out formally for an actual date, not just “hang out” or “meet up.” Other cities are great for dating on apps. Nowhere in the Midwest though, I think because it’s such a social and vibrant place, with lots of charm and friendliness. Apps are for hookups, going out is for actually meeting people. So yes, weird vibe as compared to other cities, but I never dated more and met such a broad group of people since moving here, and had guys put themselves out there and have fun with actual dating. Same with making girlfriends- very friendly, not too cliquey, people are always looking to hang out and it’s easy to get an invite from people. This was not the case anywhere else I’ve lived, therefore I’m never leaving.

GIRL, dating in Atlanta!!! Having lived in Chicago, and visited Atlanta a ton - night and day, in my experience personally. Never had a problem getting a date or meeting new people. I was constantly approached in Atlanta by other singles and it was always friendly and positive, even if it never worked out romantically, everyone seemed so willing to stay in touch and be friends.

Just a heads up: For Kohls + Sephora you can’t use Sephora gift cards and they can’t take returns from a regular Sephora (only purchases from a Sephora + Kohls)!

If its similar to JC penny's Sephora u can't use those vouchers u get in the Sephora sets. U cant use ur Sephora credit card in the JC penny one either. That's kinda dumb imo though. I have to settle for the one in flabby because those are the only ones anywhere near me. It would be around 2 hours or more to get to a regular Sephora and that's a bummer.

You hit the nail on the head with Chicago being a chill big city! I lived in NYC prior to this and the constant hustle and bustle became really wearing. I don’t feel that way about Chicago, even after almost 5 years. As for dating, in my experience it can be a slog in getting first dates and finding people BUT the two serious adult relationships (one past, one current) have been here!
@sarg5449

I’ve lived in Chicago 6 years. 100% agree on the dating scene. It seems like everyone here is so invested in their careers or grad school (which is amazing) that they don’t prioritize dating. The winters aren’t that bad. All you need is a very warm jacket and snow boots. There’s still plenty to do in the winter and you wouldn’t need a car.

And the traffic isn’t awful. I live/work here and it’s because it’s a major city in the middle of a rural state so the people just aren’t used to traffic. Im originally from NJ, lived in DC, and the traffic here isn’t bad. Public transit isn’t great though.

Can’t wait to hear (and see) the Atlanta experience! I’m married, so can’t speak to the dating scene, but I do travel to Atlanta all the time for work. The traffic is tight, but it’s not impossible. Great mix of southern charm and big city. I think it’s a great addition to your list of considerations!

Being a life-long Chicagoan it is so nice to get the perspective of someone who is not from here. We take so many of its amazing qualities for granted. Don’t be afraid of the winters. While they can be brutal at times, you get use to it. Mid January and February are generally the worst. We would love to have you put down roots here.

Chicago native here. I’ve been to several cities all over the country and nowhere compares. I agree with your overall assessment of Chicago - it’s a major city, but it is chill compared to somewhere like NYC, people are friendly, it’s clean and there’s SO much to do all year round (yes, even in the winter). As for the dating scene, I’ve always felt like meeting people in-person here is the way to go. There’s so much to do here, you’re bound to meet some winners while you’re out and about. My bestie moved to Miami years ago and we visit each other all the time. It’s not as hard as I thought it would be and I have somewhere to go in Jan and Feb when the weather sucks here 😆. I’ve been enjoying your vlogs so much! ❤️

I'm almost 30, have lived in Chicago my whole life, and can confirm. Suburbs are no better. I live on the edge of the city, very close to a lot of southwest suburbs and over the years have set my app radius higher just to see what's out there and it's the same. Lots of matches, no responses. If you do get a response, you converse a little until it fizzles out. I've been on the apps on and off for probably 5 years, have only been out with 3 people, 2 of which were just 1 date each and the third was a relationship that he ended up bailing out of after a few months because he "wasn't ready" and almost 35 years old. Cream of the crop here!

omg!! the shave oil- it is so wonderful! Seriously, I realize this sounds super dramatic, and I can't think of a whole lot of things that make me feel this way, BUT it makes me so happy every time I use it. I use it in my baths, and it is just so wonderful and uplifting. I really love the whole experience. The only downside is I don't think another shaving product will be able to come near it, so I may be ruined. I had gotten their Moroccan Rose body butter before, and had to give it away. But this has more than made up for that.

Big Atlanta supporter here! i lived there for 2 years in my early 20s - great dating scene, a ton to do, friendly people, awesome day-trip opportunities, very cool neighborhoods. I live on the coast of NC now, and i miss the ATL weather, i think the proximity to the mountains gives it a more ‘seasonal’ climate. i try to be aware of my surroundings everywhere, so safety/crime didn’t seem to change my lifestyle any. honestly, i didn’t think the traffic was that bad once you get a feel for the highways. i really hope you have a great experience there!

At this point 35 yrs of being best friends we are for sure family and it def sucks everytime. Love her for life. xo

I've known my bff for 45 years and we haven't lived in the same city for the past 30. It's hard but always great when we do get to see each other. I've seen her at least four times this year... You just have to make time. Hang in there.

My best friend moved to Colorado Springs the day after my baby shower in January , so I totally feel your friend situation. But just met up with her in Los Angeles for a girls weekend. And I agree, as long as you make plans to meet up, it makes the distance doable. Love seeing your nomad videos!

Hi Taylor, I loved this vlog! I had to laugh when you were taking about bras and being the age where you just want to be comfortable…LOL, wait until you hit 50 😆 Also, my Bestie (since 4th grade, we are 54 now) is a flight attendant and even though we live in the same state, we don’t get to see each other that often, so I get it…if I don’t have a scheduled date for us to get together in the future, I’m sad! I can’t wait to see your next vlog from Jordan! ❤️🌹

I’m 40, but have also had the same bestie since 4th grade! We live in different cities, but only 40 minutes apart so we still see each other regularly. Just marathon watched Stranger Things together last weekend. 👯‍♀️

@@virginiagirl6628 I adore Taylor…she’s the ONLY KZbinr that I follow religiously, and have for several years. I think that’s one of the big reasons for her success…she appeals to such a wide audience, she is smart and mature and her content is never “age restricted” in a way that I feel left out due to my age. And, she feels like a friend. 🌹

It's so interesting to hear your take on the dating scene here in Chicago! I've lived here my whole life, so I don't have anything to compare it to, but I have really found that people are really into just having a chat on the apps and don't seem as ready to make plans. That can be super frustrating to me, but good to know other places aren't necessarily like that!

My best friend just moved to Phoenix, so I totally get how you're feeling. We have been friends since middle school so it's definitely going to be a change to have her be further away. My parents are also moving outside of Vegas, though, so since they will be there I'll likely be going down there pretty often to visit. So I'm hoping I can hop a flight to Phoenix once in a while to see my friend or stop there first and then go on to Vegas to see my family. It's hard having them move away but at the same time, it's kind of nice to have an excuse to travel

I’m in Atlanta! Specifically, I live in Alpharetta, which is just north of Atlanta. Tips that come to mind - 1. Avoid using the Marta. It’s not as reliable or safe of a train system as I’ve experienced in other big cities. 2. Ponce City Market is along the Beltline! Super neat place, but it is really busy. Atlanta has a lot of really neat areas, and this is one of them. 3. The Avalon is one of the many outdoor shopping/living/activity areas, and it’s right in my neck of the woods. There is also a smaller one called the Halcyon in Johns Creek. If you’re wanting to stick in Atlanta, there is plenty to see and explore there too.

I live in Europe (originally from Israel), so my bestie since middle school still lives back home. I only get to see her twice a year since her schedule is way less flexible, and I only fly home every few months and have family to see too. I miss her, but we talk over texts basically every day and I have no doubt we'll stay friends till we're old, cute little grannies, even continents apart. So I feel you, but honestly seeing each other every couple of months is not a bad deal, and it's good to have a reason to make more friends wherever you are.

Chicago is so cool. ❤️ I have never lived there but I went once about eight years ago and I've been dying to go back ever since. I went during St. Patrick's day so the weather wasn't awful then. But your videos make me want to go back so bad!!! I think you might like Atlanta too though. :) Thank you for taking us on this exciting journey. ❤️ Love your channel always.

Really excited to hear about your experience in Atlanta! I grew up in the burbs and went to school in midtown. I love where I live now but miss a lot about Atlanta. One big thing is I was super spoiled living in Atlanta because I did not know what a layover was until moved away! So many direct flights and the airport is huge but really easy to navigate. Would be really neat to see a real estate video in atlanta!!
