Surely you can only wipe the original key when connected to the assigned car. If it has been wiped then it should reprogramme to any suitable car as it is essentially a new key. These things are pretty cheap and it isn't worth buying a used one. Mine for instance was only £11 on Amazon complete with chip.

Hi, yes if its been made into a virgin key again it should code up. However, most of the ebay keys im asked to code in have been made into a virgin key. You're correct that the new copy keys can be very cheap so a new key can be quite reasonable

I bought one off eBay it says unlocked when read and goes through the programming modes in the ignition etc but then says failed at the end. Using Autel 508. Not confident in the key now following this yet there are many comments saying otherwise. What do you do? Buy more rubbish? Or buy the version I was hoping you would suggest / promote the link to..? Maybe main dealer only then?

If you get a new key and have the pin code, most machines wll programme it.

When I tried to do mine the display said service theft deterrent system . The coding machine goes through the whole sequence and then says no loaded key repeat procedure. Are the two events connected?

As far I have seen, it's not possible to programme a used Vauxhall key, the car just does not accept the new key and will display the mesage you are talking about

That's what I thought, but this was a new key from ebay, hadn't been programmed to another car, just wouldn't have it.

I bought one off ebay 4 my insignia got it cut and programmed works fine

Hi Craig, was it new? There are some really cheap brand new ones for about £10 and they programme up ok. The problem comes when we've tried to programme a used key that's had a fresh key blade. If we've had a customer that has a brought us in a used key, we've never got it to code up

Not a complete waste of money. The cases on these keys are prone to breaking so at the very least it’s a backup for if you need to replace the case.

Hi, the trouble is that to get the case open, it needs to be broken open, which means you can't re-use it.

Hi, that's a bit odd. If you put the circuit board back into the old case, do the buttons work?

I bought one for opel astra g from aliexpress but guy couldn't cut the key properly and it can't fit into lock properly any ideas if this still can be cutted?

Yeah, Astra is 2013 year key is just like in your arms with 3 buttons

It's difficult to help you without seeing the key. If you have swapped it over to a new case, but now no buttons work, it may be the battery is wrong way round, or the metal connector is not touching correctly

Nonsense, it's a bit faffy but simply swap over the insides. Make sure you work on clean visible surface for tiny bits. Refit the key and chip, plus battery and works brill

I GOT A KEY FROM EBAY AND REMOVED THE PART HE MILLED YOU DO NOT NEED TO CUT THIS THE ORIGINAL KEY IS HELD IN WITH A LITTLE ROLL PIN YOU SIMPLY DRIVE IT OUT FROM BOTH KEY FOBS AND SWOP THEM OVER AN AT THE SMAE TIME SWOP THE PRINTED CIRCUITS JOB DONE. YOU NOW HAVE A NEW KEY FOB WITH THE ORIGINAL PROGRAMED CIRCUIT BOARD AND METAL KEY. I DONE IT IN THE HOUSE NO PROBLEM
