Recently sold my 2010 vfr1200 and boy do I regret it. Forget the touring aspect that thing is a porky rc211v, the acceleration once you hit 4k rpm and intake howl so sexy. Just a rocket ship that can leaaaaan over and stop on a dime. The bike feels feather light when moving and is a wheelie monster

Nice machine! I also have a 2013 in black and silver. These bikes are rare beauties and not many folks know about them. It gets the looks whenever I ride and the inquires from other bikers. I searched for a while before I found mine. I love the entire iteration of the VFR line. These bikes are rare beauties and not many folks know about them. I searched for a while before I found mine. Like yours it came with some pleasant surprises: A DAM exhaust, custom Corbin seat, heated grips, V-stream wind screen and fairly new Michelin Pilot Road 4 tires. You are spot on with how easy they are to ride. If you just sit on the seat the bike will just stand up on it's own. The center of gravity is so low and it is so well balanced, no muscling is needed. I looked at the BMW 1300 you spoke of and found the weight comparable but the design put way more of that weight higher on the chassis so it took more of a nudge to get vertical. I also have a nicely restored 1984 VF 700 F Interceptor. I had an 84' VF 750 Interceptor back in the late 80's during my years in the USMC. Then stupidly sold it. Found the 700 recently and had to have it. Ride safe brother! from MD, USA

Just bought one here in the UK. . great bike, mega power and so easy to ride like you say. Very underrated bike. Be nice to have some 1200 vfr content , nobody seems to bother with them on KZbin which is a shame, as they do have a good following. and a really great bike..

Thanks Philler, I have more VFR1200 vids coming. I love the power of the 1200 and the ability to corner for such a big bike but it's been a bit of a struggle to fully enjoy such a harsh ride IMO. Not giving up on it though as we work out the kinks. 🙃

Got my 2010 VFR 1220 F (Manual, the way God intended) on Jan 31, 2020. Put 25,000 miles on her in 2 years. Wildly happy with it. Next step is to have a Guhl ECU flash done, which tapers off the toggle switch 1st and 2nd gear throttle control and takes off the top speed limiter, giving it a 173 mph potential.
@RodRidesWrenches2 жыл бұрын
Send link for the ECU reflash!

@@RodRidesWrenches II just checked Don Guhl’s website, and apparently he’s not even doing motorcycle reflashes anymore. :/ I emailed the rider who gave me the link to see if he knows anywhere else that will do it.

Nice find Rod. Funny how all the bikes you have were the ones I was shopping. ST1300, VFR800 and VFR1200. Unfortunately 1200 just seemed a little too tall for me and last week I brought home a CBF1000. Hopefully it warms up soon so I can get some seat time. Oh, and heated grips on the way. Cheers from Qualicum Beach.

good find, Rod! I've always been a fan of the VFR1200, while i dont see it as a successor to the VFR800, more of a step between the VFR800 and the ST1300, but i've always wanted one but i just love my 5th Gen VFR800 :D

Hi, I have a black/silver 2013 example with just under 100k miles on it. I ride all year round and main service point to keep on top of are the front brakes. They don’t like salty roads !! Mods I have done are ohlins rear shock and re-sprung/valved front forks. If I had done the forks first, I wouldn’t have bothered with the ohlins shock. I use Michelin roads 5’s or Metzler roadtec 01’s. Tend to change as a pair as the front does seem to wear quite heavily - about 8k miles out of a pair, mixed riding 😉. Enjoy 😊

I had a 2017 VFR 1200X DCT, and really liked it but traded it in for my 2018 Goldwing DCT, non tour. Best touring bike out there, but i found myself missing the VFR, but wanted to give the F a try with that 170 BHP, Ride safe! Subscribed…

Hello BCUZICAN, The bike had around 34000km's or less than 19,000 miles. With shipping it was $5500 CDN. I have invested another $1500 in repairs. The closest local comparable at the time was around $8000. The cheapest I've ever seen this bike was around $6000CDN with high mileage. Cheers🏍

Nice video as the comparisons between VFR 800's. As a Honda V4 fan (2 Sabre VF750, VFR 750 1986 and now the VFR 750 1995) I wonder what the VFR 1200 will add to the RC36II. Also owned a Blackbird, very fast in a straight line but much less fun in the corners. With which motorcycle does the VFR 1200 have the most in common, latest model VFR 750 or Blackbird ?

I want to change my bike and I can't decide. I'am interstead in Bmw k1300s and Honda vfr 1200. How would you compare these 2 ? Pro and Con
@RodRidesWrenches2 жыл бұрын
Big Question Bigger Answer... K13S; more bottom end power, better brakes and suspension by far, Nissin and Showa are not even close even if you don't get ESP on the BMW but if you do get it you will appreciate it on your first long trip. VFR1200F significantly smoother on top end, bike is smooth even at 200KPH. Better gearing on the VFR I would say as well. Ergonomically, being a normal height 5'5" with a 30" inseam, The Honda is more comfortable. I had to add Heli-Bars to my K13S and K12S while the VFR just works stock. The narrow engine configuration of the VFR makes you think you're on a smaller bike. I do miss ESP and Brembo though! - Good Luck!

@@RodRidesWrenches Thank you! I am 6.1 and around 215lbs so I don't mind the extra size or weight of the bike. I want something confy and sportish, I know I need to make a compromise. Meanwhile I just found out about Ducati Supersport 950 and it looks amazing, I know maintenance is a bit more expensive, but here in Europe not by much

i rode one and i found it very hard to ride like the gears are no very well related and extremelly heavy ..to me is all the contrary what you saying and that its the reason why them desapear rapidly ...if you like the vfr cause the hi tech in the bike go for the original 800 that one is really good only a little heavy too ...to me the vfr 1200 its a big mistake by honda

Rubbish bike, heavy, doesn’t like corners, thirsty After 11 years riding it never let me down, sunny, rainy, stormy day don't matter it pulls like a locomotive, should see one after ridden in the rain, steam everywhere. I've ridden zx14 felt like a flying sofa, s1000rr felt like a knife, this one is like slaying a dragon, every corner is a challenge but on straights and not so straights is flying, red line should be at 14k Underrated and not for everyone, tweak that suspension, sort power restriction, don't tell anyone, let them think is rubbish
