Great video, Steve. I stayed at Verarda Place right next door to Siri for 3 weeks when I was in CM. Was very happy there. It runs about 400 baht a day for short term rental. 3300 baht a month is fantastic. I'll check out Siri next time. It is a great location. Very safe and convenient to everything.

Yes . A 88 dollar room is possible to find. But it's not something you would want to live in. Also it's very hot in Thailand ( Google it). Air-conditioning is a must have. That's 88 USD all by itself

Just subscribed. Don't usually do that until I've watched a while, but loved the video & thrift is a buzzword w me. Not to b confused w cheap. That is a great place for the dough! I agree with other good positive comments fuck the criticism there are people that need a 60 to 80 dollar room and you show it is possible to find something so great work....I am intrigued in finding the unique unexpected places for 150 to 175 a month that I can call home for six months a year in the area that is close to old city and Nimman ....some where in between.....again thanks for the vid....
@ThriftySteve7 жыл бұрын
So far the only place I've covered for that price point is my current place, a 5 bedroom house right on Nimman... I pay $170 a month for my room. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIixlnaLZsyEjsk I definitely plan to cover other apartments around that price range, because finding a house like mine is more of a case by case basis....

Glad to see you back. I enjoyed this video and your others about the Up North Garden Inn. Your videos made it seem very appealing. Can you name a couple negatives about that apartment?
@ThriftySteve7 жыл бұрын
Sure... about the Up North Garden Inn, the Internet they offered was slow and unreliable, so I never purchased it. I noticed that the walls were thin and you could easily hear noise in the halls, but despite this, noise was never a problem. The people who lived there were quiet and respectful, and the place never seemed crowded. That might be because I lived there in Jan and Feb, not during peak season. Not necessarily a negative, but definitely an FYI the front desk staff doesn't always speak English, it depends who is on duty. You could always email the apartment with any needs or concerns, though.

@ThriftySteve7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, running air con will really make your electricity bill jump... it blindsides a lot of people!
@briansenez77187 жыл бұрын
In the past I have had a 4k baht electric bills running aircon a lot but not 24/7. that is for a small room equivalent in size to the one shown.
@jariristiranta91637 жыл бұрын
Looks like they charge 8 baht per unit (more than double the government rate) for electricity so running the AC 24/7 could double his rent.
@bananapatch91187 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the replies. I was just trying to get an idea if I could end up with a bill around $100....or $200...I guess when we get there we need to find a place with a good rental price, but also need to find a place with a low electric charge of maybe closer to 5 baht/unit, if we are planning to run the air con a lot.

How is the view of the first apartment amazing ? It’s facing a boring and noisy road and the buildings opposite are nothing spectacular. Westerners often exaggerate and use words like great, amazing or it blows your mind! Lol. I always discount their compliments by at least 50%. They are very loose with compliments. In Asia, we abide by the principle of : don’t mean it, don’t say it.

Meaning free fruit aplenty - only catch was you had to rent - and pay upfront - for a year, which was like 50,000 Baht, or 4,200 Baht per month! That was a glorious dream right there....:-)
