Almost a year ago I got the Zs3, those were my first IEs so I really couldnt tell if they were good sounding or not, but as soon as I starting using them live I love them. Sometimes is difficult to get a nice fitting quickly but for 25 Usd I cant complain. Great to hear that you liked them too Rob!

Thanks Rob, perfect timing. I have been meaning to get a pair of IEM's but haven't gotten around to it. Just went on Amazon and order a pair with the upgraded wires. I had a pair of Etymotics that I liked but an earbud broke. I think I paid $350 for them about 10 years ago. I definitely don't want to spend too much money on another pair. These are worth a shot. Seemed to be getting excellent reviews from you as well as others on Amazon. Thanks again for the recommendation.

I’ve been using SE215 headphones for years and am very happy with them. So much so that when the pair I had finally gave out (after years of very heavy use) I immediately ordered another pair. I actually wear a pair of ear muffs over the top for extra isolation and have my kit all micd up, mixed and fed into my in ears. Playing like this my accuracy immediately improved (especially my kick) as I was able to clearly monitor my playing at a low comfortable volume.

I have those zst and they are awesome.. good build good sound and i dont worry if i break them.. i got them on ebay for 15$ and replaced the tips with foam tips... The seal is perfect i can hear anything outside them. Also got a case for them for 1$ on ebay and im set... You can buy the bluetooh cable replacement or a silver cable thats supposedly better than the original

Ordered a pair of ZSTs and received them this week. Added some Comply foam tips and they're almost perfect now. A little too much on the highs for me but I can roll that off on my IEM board. Have a pair of ES4s on the way for my wife. If I like them, I may order a pair for myself. These things are such a great price for the performance you get! I also have had two pairs of SE215s (left ear is crapping out on my first and oldest pair) and are currently using Westone UM30s. These KZ IEMs can hang right with my Westones. I will now have plenty o spares to carry with me. Thanks for the heads up on these Rob!

I had the shure 315 series i think, one side went out.I contacted shure for repair and they offered me credit towards their se565 which are over 500. I think I paid under 200 total.very happy. Although I noticed Rascal Flats drummer Jim Riley using headphones and messaged him and asked if he preferred them to in ears, he said absolutley. Direct Sound headphones designed for studio and live. I got a pair, and like being able to hear my drums too.

Dont know if you remember us first talkin about these but I ordered mine back which was maybe... summer time of last year and they are holding up fine. Its only been one time where i got some muddiness or distortion but ill take that blame and same i had my volume too loud. Got the KZ-ZST and I have to say I prefer my shure 215. I see what you're saying in that theyre good quality but to me the mid range is high. I prefer the shure because the mid range doesn't intrude too much and physically the shures are more comfy in my ear canals. I was interested in changing because the cables are wearing and the ear buds too, but now I think I'll sees if I can buy new cables and buds and stick with these shure 215. I see that if you want to spend 1/4 of the price the KZ-ZST is really really great for the money and I suspect some of this is personal preference or maybe our ears respond more to different frequencies. Rock on.

Hey man Great video! Recently got a tinitus playing the drums. Been using foam protectors but one time i played without them and went wrong. With ear monitors can you protect yourself? or is it better to stick with plugs / isolating headphones. Been planning on buying Shure 215 and use them with isolating headphones for extra protection.

Hey Rob thanks for all the great videos and tutorials. Unfortunately, I bought these on your recommendation and though the drivers themselves are decent the molds themselves Are a really poorly design. The tip that Goes into your ear is far too long so that the body of the in ear cannot sit in your ear comfortably. This isn’t just a comfort issue, as if the body does not come up clean against your ear you’re going to get a lot of un isolated sound getting in. I’ve compared it to many of the other in ears I have, and there is a substantial difference and that Tip length that makes all the difference in the world. If someone’s in the market for cheap low-cost in ears that are still good quality. Please have a look at MEE audio M6 Pro. (49.99)

the ZS5 is strong and great mids and lows. the zs6 has eq'd hi's. its kinda bright. been using the zs5 for months. when you buy them get the upgraded 2 pin braided cable and the comply memory foam tips and your fit will happen. 45 bucks or so and you will be blown away! Nabster

This is an excellent video. And I own a pair of in-ears from alienears and like other people have said, I feel I might have buyers remorse. My biggest issue is that the bass is real weak, even though I have a double low end set. The full range sounds is amazing, second to none. So I guess I give up one for the other. And they are the most comfortable to wear. Anyways, thanks for this video. Gonna order a set of those KZ and regret nothing!!!

If you want that ambient drum sound, I recommend setting two condenser mics; one on each side of the stage, to get a natural stereo sound in your ears. My band does this and it was a game changer.

HOLY COW! I just got my KZ-ZST Pro and I'm in shock - I was on the verge of getting the SE-215s but I'm sold on these after six second of listening! Quick compared them to Sony 7506 and they blow them out of the water in terms of mid-clarity and the highs are more pleasant than the Sonys ... Shure and Sony should be worried ;) Thanks for the tip Rob!!

Interesting with the KZ's. That's definitely a cheap price! I currently use SE215's, but I can't keep them in my ears, even with swapping the tips. Always have had issues with keeping universal fits in my ears. Probably gonna get customs within the next two months.

It's like this video was personalized for me. I also have the SE215s and I have the same problem where one side stopped working. Went ahead and ordered a new cable so I'm hoping that fixes them. It's crazy how expensive that cable is. You can get 2 pairs of KZ in ears just for the price of the SE215 cable. I might switch to KZ if that cable doesn't work out

You have to try the silver grade cable, they sound even better with that cable. My wife has a KZ ZST Pro, and I have a Shure SE215, but, as you say, the KZ sounds amazing. I want to try the newest model, the KZ ZS10

I hope you didn't. They were the Window Vista of KZ's. Go for TRN V-80!!!! (I got mine a week ago, can't shut up about them...) A couple of KZ Engineers broke off and formed TRN. They are GOOD.

I haven’t tried UEs, too expensive. But other in ears really bother the insides of my ears. They wind up itching really bad. Do you have any issues with that using the UEs?

They did arrive in 2 days!! Evidently they were in stock. Jury is out on sound quality. Highs and mids very crisp and clear, lows not so much. Maybe they have not broken in yet. Instructions were poor translation, so not totally understandable. Any tips??

Please people, look at the KZ ZSN, they are a straight up upgrade to these (I have both). For the same price you get some metal in the build and an incredible cable as well as an even more refined sound (still the same signature though)

I ordered a pair just like the ones you were talking about and I got them in 2 days with Amazon Prime. I also bought the Bluetooth Audio Cable, Wireless Replacement Cable for KZ so that I could be wireless. I will have to say that the headphones are pretty good, especially in that price range. However, I have my reservations about the BT replacement cable. If you like wearing them behind your head, like I do, you will find that the BT controls will start to swing around your head because of the weight. I almost find it irritating because it jostles the right ear out. Overall, for the money spent, they are worth having as a spare.

@rob brown. I’ve been using the KZ ZSR for about a month and I’m content with everything but the highs so I considering the ZS10s or maybe hold out for something custom. Are you planning a review on the ZS10s? I’d like input from another drummer. The reviews so far are mostly music enthusiasts rather then someone in our case that is thinking about isolation, a balanced sound, secure fit, and how all of the elements work together in our mix such as click/backing, guitars and instruments, and vocals thanks in advance

I have the ZS10, don't go there. They are a screwup. Don't come CLOSE to the ZS6, other than MAYBE Mids. Go for TRN V-80's. Cheaper, and, from my tests, they KILL all the KZ, but I haven't heard the all Armature KZ, yet. Way too much money to try. For me.

Rob Brown: Got ‘em today. Sound awesome out of the box! I push ‘em in for a tight seal, then back out slightly for comfort (biggest fear w/non moulded is them falling out while playing. I don’t think these will). Now after I run these through my DBX IEM rack mount for ultimate control?? Bam Son! Just put ‘em in a little case and shove ‘em in your stickbag and it’s good!

Rob Brown I've had atleast3 pairs of 215s...all with the same issues. I even got the protection and they just dont hold up! I grabbed the case too and I'm good! Glad I found these because I almost went the high end route

I agree. They are at least as good as Shures. I always had distortion problems with the Shures when increasing the volume on my bass, I borrowed the dual driver KZs this week and like them better! Going to buy a ZS5s here and make those my primary IEMs.
