Really love the Hilux. A shame we don't get small pickup truck with diesel engines in north america anymore. Remember those Turbo Diesel Rangers in the 80's? They were pretty reliable. Oh, I forgot, Rangers at that time were real small pickup trucks with a big 7ft bed, not a fat & fancy suvs with a 4 or 5ft playschool box behind.

I didn’t know about diesels longevity when I was looking at the Excursion in late 1999. I only saw you pay more for diesel fuel. So I went with the 6.8L V-10 310hp 425tq I bought in December 1999 and still own it. 315,000 miles and have had no mechanical issues. Changed alternator, fuel injectors once and of course plugs. It has been the most reliable vehicle. It drives the same up hills whether I’m towing my boat or not. Wish I could post a picture, it’s beautiful. My son wants a diesel so I’m looking at reviews. He likes Ram Cummings and has been looking at D-max trucks, so expensive. Great video!!

Fun fact about the Hilux. There was a war that was fought with and named after it. The Toyota Wars. Count Dankula did an awesome video on it and it’s a good watch! I highly recommend it!

Chevy duramax 09 lmm 350 k miles it’s worked hard towing heavier than specs call for . Been very reliable .

Doesn't matter the engine if you abuse and tune it to death, it will fail. Bought an OBS 7.3 that was beaten up by the previous owners. It needed a new engine and I got rid of it. There's also plenty of 6.0s out there running forever that have been taken care of. A lot of the time it's not the engine, but rather the owner

My Fords. Never let me down. Current is a 2013 F150 4x4 Coyote 12th gen, it now has 220+++ miles. I put one water pump in it. That being said i also do all my own maintenance. I also do the maintenance when the recommended interval is due. Like now, the timing chain and sprockets should be warn, so before there is a issue or noise i will replace all the timing chains, guides and related parts. This way i will not face a costly rebuild if the chains jump time. Maintenance is key to longevity. I want this to be the last truck i purchase. And with the 26 federal mandate of kill switches in all vehicles, it might as well be.
