Excellent review, I'm the type of person who will go out and pay more because I think I am getting a much better product, but now you have challenged that thought process, might pick up a few cheaper pencils and try similar test myself

These are some of my favorite pencils for the value! I think the key is having the variety in pencil lead softness is what makes the biggest difference its mostly noticeable shading and when doing fine details. If I was only allowed to pick one, I would pick the Ticonderoga all day since its the best balanced pencil (soft enough to get pretty dark and card enough to get fine details with out putting down too much graphite)
