Years ago I was hit on the side of he knee. It was a high level shooter that I practiced with often. I was wearing the most basic bauer knee guards at the time. They were basically fabric lol. Comfort from the butterfly was more important at the time and I felt like I was protected enough. Little did I realize, I was completely wrong. My buddy took a ripper of a shot below the goal line in a perfectly placed hole at my knee. I didn't know I was leaving that spot but he sure as hell did! I left the locker room not able to pick up my bag and needed help out to the parking lol. About 2 months later i returned to the ice on a stick time. Had to hit them up for bit. I will always use a pro knee guards to this day.

Thanks for the video! I have the older version of the bauer knee pads before the gsx that's all 1 solid piece without the hinge. I always look at the bulkyness of the pro pads and can't bring myself to like them. Way to bulky and seems like to much pad going on for the 1/2 shots a season to the knee I've ever taken

Got hit once at the exact spot you pointed at with very good knee pads and wanted to die. I since added volleyball kneepads underneath (seen it somewhere on Reddit) but like you said, tough to say if it works because it doesn’t happen often.

Like any knee protection is better than none, but yeah probably still going to hurt quite a bit. Never thought about using volleyball knee pads before!

@@ChikenMastr it’s supposed to act as a cushion between the knee and the proper goalie knee pads

@@GuillaumeBellemare Even good kneepads kinda suck as it pertains to landing comfort. Most knees will protect though. Wearing additional padding underneath adds height, stability and comfort. Will never do without.

To be honest, gsx will do just fine for 90% of beer league goalies all over the world Even I play with former pros in asia , i rather spend more on skates for my foot health
