You can play alone. It gets a little weird because it asks you to set up a server when you're starting a playthrough, but private servers are just that, private. No one else can join unless you let them.

If the dev make a solo focused dlc I would buy it, with options like base defense, AI teammate, AI vampires that simulate other players etc... The game already has npc factions fighting each others, they could improve the world ecosystem for pve experience.

There is an entire, solid pve play through in the game already, and the option to play solo. But the things you want are pvp features you just want AI on the other side. Why? Can't wait for this. Played V Rising in 2022 and 2023. The first time at the initial early access launch, the second for the Gloomrot update. When it first launched, it felt like a complete, polished game. With Gloomrot the additions were amazing. Now with everything else coming and this being the official 1.0 release this game is the definition of "worth the money". Can't recommend highly enough.

This really is one of the best survival games out there, period. arc, conan, palworld, fo4, etc. I very much recommend this game. It occurred to me the other day one of the things that really sets this one apart. The living world. palworld has its lovely, lively bases, but the world is empty. not true with v rising. the roads have patrols of vhunters, guards, undead, merchants. the factions fight each other. bandits will fight guards, fight undead, kill wolves. villagers will patrol their villages. nuns will do processions from the chapel to the village. The one thing I would like to see is a sortof "morality" system. Savage or decadent vampire. with props, and some gameplay associated. decadent building comfy parlors for prisoners. banquets, etc. savage just iron cages and murdering. and various other bonuses to go along with that. play into the "kinds" of vampires.

The gaming group I'm in and me played and "beat" (killed the last boss at the time and decided to move on) when it released in beta last year and had lots of fun. I think we'll probably give it a while before replaying but nice to see it get the 1.0

I'm a big fan of Battlerite and even Bloodline Champions (Basically progenitor of Battlerite by same devs). Really happy they put those mechanics into more PvE oriented games, tho having played V on EA launch with friends i didn't enjoy that you kinda can just run from spawn if at least one guy is still fighting, feels cheesy, but i understand that it's how all games in this survivor-genre works. And i don't care for PvP in this kind of games. I do want to try 1.0 Brutal difficulty solo just as a PvE game, since i really like battle mechanics.

It's definitely on my wishlist, but right now I'm busy with Grim Dawn. Super cool to see that you can transform into a wolf and bear though. Most people tend to forget that vampires can shapeshift into more than just bats.

I have seen a couple questions on controller support. I initially started with xbox controller and it was just like before really (could be I left default settings on steam app). I hooked up a PS5 controller and then the UI changed and it looked like a proper controller game. Only thing that is kind of wonky, is the camera. It doesn't always face forward as you move and the right stick doesn't control that (maybe option to change that). But to put it forward where you're looking press the triangle and realigns. Outside of that, I think it works well.

I wonder if the devs will eventually allow players to play as other factions such as humans and undead. I guess vampires are technically undead, but the game seems to treat undead as separate.

Can you use dominated humans to handle the survival & basebuilding aspect ? Having a powerful vampire turn into a lumberjack and miner to be able to shield himself from the sun during daytime sounds so sad to me... at least he probably won't pick up berries and mushrooms to feed ^^

yes, sortof. you can create thralls, and take them back to your castle. they will then patrol around the castle, and defend it in pvp. Or, you can then send them out on missions to collect resources. these missions don't actually take place in the gameworld though. they leave and are gone for 4-24hours, and then return with loot. the missions are targeted. aka, send to the iron mine to collect iron.

I played this game a lot on released. I killed all bosses except the last 2. Then one day I could not log in because the host dropped the server I was playing. I wonder if I can start again on an official server without fearing of my vampire getting wiped again.

Just a head's up, V Rising allows scheduled server wipes MP servers. This to allow new players access without getting steam rolled. I do believe this is optional and MP only. All MP servers are being wiped for the 1.0 today.

Does anyone know whether the system of capturing enemies has gotten better? Last year (or so?) it was horrible to get them to your base safely and their endless travel time for missions meant that playing offline (i.e. time doesn't move while you're off) made it completely pointless.

V Rising has been one of those hidden gems I'm glad I picked up. Got the game when it first went into EA and expected to try it out for 2 hours then refund if I didn't like it. Ended up playing for about 6 or 7 hours that first time and didn't even realize it.

I remember there being cosmetic stuff in early access. E.g. Tristan the Vampire Hunter was an early game boss, which roamed the map and gave you the unlock item to tier up, and could drop his hat and cape when killed.

Creature blood is an option for general play. That will speed up your movement speed and give some sun resistance.

I loved Battlerite's combat, but was also averse to PVP. So, when this was released into EA and I saw that it used the same combat style but with a larger focus on PvE, I was all for it. Like most EA games I find interesting, I played a ton when it first was released and got pretty burnt out toward the end. I'm hoping that its been long enough that I can get back into this for its 1.0 release.

I really liked V Rising when it came out into early access. Back then my biggest issue was dying meant you were forced to grind materials for another 2 hours since the costs of repair were so ridiculous. Also I feel like the main appeal for this game was pvp but even though they had servers of 1-2 player teams, people were still grouping up and ganking which turned me away from the game.

Own it on PC, but I'll probably wait until the PS5 release to play it again since that's my preferred gaming platform for games like this. It's a fun game, but I do feel some of the boss fights are definitely poorly balanced, and running back to get your gear can be really, really frustrating in some areas due to the speed of enemy respawns.

Is this game MMORPG based or is it made as if it could be fully immersive storydriven single player open world experience? How much is basebuilding required? I love the idea of being a Vampire conqueror as i loved the game TYRANNY.

This is a pvp survival game with no story where you drop most inventory on death. You HAVE to build a base and defend it from other players while taking down their castles.There are pve features but they're there to enhance the PVP experience. For example, the mines are very dangerous because players flock there to get ore since it's used for everything so mining ore is risky. There very little in common with tyranny here but, it does feel cool terrorizing NPCs, draining their blood, staying out of the sun and shape shifting. You do feel like a vampire

@@Shadowclaw25 it is essentially a multiplayer game first. so yeah, its better with friends. I play solo, can only really speculate. I personally don't think I would like the pvp aspects. mp pve should be pretty fun. certainly speed up the "grind". for solo, the thralls go a long way in reducing grind. alternatively you can just adjust the server settings to your liking. the lively world. terraria style boss killing for progression, base building are all very good even solo.

It's there to give new players a chance, and after a while of playing maxed out it's fun to reset and see how fast you can rebuild and dominate other players. Only takes a few hours to get to level 40ish if you know what you're doing

@@Ant-gu6vz You describe that you enjoy the process of leveling up from zero to hero, but this is not necessarily interesting to others (for ex. not for me). I prefer the cumulative format. And I think that the game should add new content, but interesting enough without resetting the servers (endgame expansion). Overall there is nothing stopping you to become a new player at any time.

@@GetClothers There are multiple servers that don’t do resets. You can also set up a server of your own that doesn’t reset. Ultimately Vrising has a lot of settings that you can tweak or join servers that fit your preferences it’s unfortunate you can’t enjoy this game tho

I've been playing this off and on for the last couple years, though usually in singleplayer, which has more often then not lead me to stalling before getting out of the opening territory unless I customized the settings heavily. Still the castle building is fun (if not very intuitive for multiple floors) and gear 'progression' is nice but it doesn't give as much of an impression of an 'upgrade' between parts, but again, this might be because I never got above gear level 40. Blood quality RNG is irritating and that you can't 'maintain' a current blood type is a bit annoying.

I remember when I played EA I boosted harvesting rates and stack sizes by something like 60% while enabling 'teleport with resources'. That cut down on busy work and made it easier to explore the map, fight the bosses, and experiment with new weapon skills and spells. Blood RNG could be annoying, but generally there were a few spots in select enemy locations that usually spawned 75%+.

i read up on people being annoyed at the day time and i just dont get it. i do everything during the day that i might do at night. only difference is that it makes things a bit more difficult. cause of sun damage. but battling during the day is just as much fun as doing it during the night. so if people are just hiding or resource gathering during the day then maybe its a they skill issue?
