I know the main characters were technically Xena & Gabrielle but I always loved the episodes Ares was in. Certain cast members at times tended to be dodgy when it came to acting but Kevin Smith always managed to pull off whatever was asked of him whether it was being an ass, having you feel sorry for him, or laughing at something he said/did. What happened to him was such a tragedy especially since he was on the cusp of starting a Hollywood career.

I can't remember any other show on television where you never knew what the tone of the episode was going to be from week to week. You might get the campiest episode ever, a musical episode, a totally serious episode where a character (or we the audience) experiences heartbreak or loss, a philosophical episode (The Way/Lau-Ma) or some episode where they take a known story or legend and insert Xena into the middle of it and she plays an integral part in "history" without anyone ever "knowing" it. For instance the episode about the war between the greeks and the trojans, the Odysseus episode, the episode where she impersonates Cleopatra to fool Marcus. I LOVED this show and it always disturbed me the way the series ended. Oh, and the poster of the video should have mentioned the actor who played Borias - he has been in a few movies and was one of the leads in a TV series too. But to be fair, he was only in a two or three episodes.

Quite a few SciFi/fantasy genre actors started in Xena/Hercules. Claudia Black (Farscape/Stargate), Ian Bohen (Teen Wolf) Gina Torres, (Firefly/Angel), Tony Todd (Candyman), Shiri Appleby (Roswell), and Roy Dotrice (Game Of Thrones) are just a few. The one big star many forget is Ryan Gosling in Young Hercules along with Dean O'Gorman (The Hobbit) who played Iolaus. It's only when you go back and rewatch that you realize how many went on to bigger things.

I loved this series. Although it had quirky scripts at times It also had very "ground breaking" story and plot lines. It was edgy and for its time incorporating scripts and characters dealing with LGBTQ relationships. During this crazy/surreal year I am watching all 134 episodes again and loving every minute of it.

@@dadoctah yeah that one episode where Xena kissed her or that episode were Gabriel was reincarnated as a man Xena was reincarnated as an old holy woman Those are the only ones I remember but maybe you know more It has been a while since I watched the show i’m thinking about buying it on DVD or Blu-ray if I can find it Oh also the musical one even though technically doesn’t count sisters are doing it for themselves talking about raising children on their own

Probably because she was only in one episode of Xena, but several of Hercules. She is very good though, loved her in Firefly and Serenity

Nebula never appeared on Xena. Gina Torres did make one appearance on X:WP as Cleopatra.

@@JohnFourtyTwo She did not play one of Xena’s warriors. She never appeared on Xena. She was in the first Hercules TV movie, Hercules and The Amazon Women, as Hippolyta, the Amazon queen, and Lucy Lawless appeared as Lysia, a second in command.
