Disclaimer :
I recognise Grand Master General Choi Hong Hi as the true authority on Taekwon-Do. The information in my tutorial is based on my interpretation of Taekwon-Do as taught to me by the Founder General Choi Hong Hi and as referred to in his book ‘TAEKWON-DO’ (5th Edition 1999) Published by ITF and printed in Canada.
Other Taekwon-Do Masters and Grand Masters may have a different interpretation of Taekwon-Do theory and practice, so if you are a Taekwon-Do student, it is important to check with your instructor if you are not sure about which interpretation you should be following.

Very nice video, sir. Great to see side checking kick demonstrated properly, especially, since after Gen. Choi died many people seem to have begun executing that technique in slow motion.

Hello sir. I have found your lessons very helpful and I have watched all of them a few times. They have helped me progress a lot in my Taekwon-do training. I was wandering if you are planning of continue your lessons? I'm sure I am not the only one appreciating and anticipating them.

Great defensive kick for self defense. Also very good for sparring as you can use it to a rushing opponent as defensive kick and follow up with punches and roundhouse kick.

I'm curious how well this technique would work against a roundhouse to the front leg as the muay Thai fighters would do?

Greetings grandmaster. Is it possible to train the front checking kick from a walking stance? Or is it necessary to train it from an L stance? Thanks in advance for your reply. Cheers.

sir, I found a military form (poomsae) on youtube. I would like to learn it. The basic movements are same. But the way combine is really dynamic and impressive. Will you kindly demonstrate it to us?

Hi Sir, as far as checking people’s attacks, is it considered cheating if you check a low kick (Below the belt) with your shin (tibia bone)? I did this at an ITF tournament a few years ago and the competitor was unable to finish the sparring match as a result (her knee was injured after her kick). She thinks that I cheated because I blocked with my shin. What do you think?

This thechnique is not allowed in competitions. It's for use in real self defence.
