Got a new ITF Grandmaster? I used to loooove it but it got to a point where I couldn't afford to keep my membership. Miss it soooooooo much! Plus, I injured and regardless of it all, I still have never fit in anywhere else. My first Tournament was when I was a white belt and left with 2nd place patterns and a personal mention by the regional master in sparring regarding my technique and control. Was the best thing I ever did. If money wasnt an issue, I would never have stopped!

Zooming in on the feet! That is very helpful to see the up close details of foot position. On most videos (and in class) you don't get the opportunity to see that. Thank you!

I was looking for videos on Reverse Turning Kick the morning that you uploaded this one! I am interested in conditioning and stretching exercises that will help improve my kick. Also, lots of various ways to break it down and practice it. I have been doing your Leg Exercises to Improve Kicks. Anything else?

Hip flexibility is important for this kick. I will be doing some fitness videos on specific stretching exercises for various kicks in the future.

Like the video, was a bit confused about the without the spin reverse turning kick that was mentioned isn't that just a hook kick with a straighter leg?
@DonatoNardizzi4 жыл бұрын
There is a lot of confusion about the terminology. If we keep the leg straight it is called a 'Reverse Tuening Kick' whether it has spin or not. If we bend the leg it is called a 'Reverse Hooking Kick' whether it has spin or not. The Reverse Hooking Kick is a variation of the Reverse Hooking Kick according to Gen. Choi. Hooking Kick is a blocking technique which is completely different. See lesson #64.

what do you think is stronger, this kick or the turning hook kick?
@DonatoNardizzi4 жыл бұрын
We don't use the term 'turning hook kick' in ITF. I think you kean 'reverse hooking kick' which is similar to Reverse Turning Kick but it is not quite as powerful.

Thanks for your videos Mr Nardizzi, they're really instructional, I reckon our Mr Shillabeer (Dave Shillabeer, 5th Dan black belt, originally from Bristol I think but works in Sheffield, you might know him?) should do a similar KZbin channel, but he's always busy, I don't think he'd have time.

When i think i get it, i tried to do this with my friend with kicking target and i just do it wrong because im not spinning but just like dwi chagi but it too low and it hit my friend D, ngl it hurt me to as the one who kick it. Well... It's our fault to do it at home without gear but still.... It's shakes my spirit until now.

Doing a spinning back kick to the body is only good for sport. This kick is not designed to kick to the body but to continue through the head, since it lacks power on the body. A regular turning back kick works well to the body, as does what we call a sheath kick, where you don’t fully extend, sidestep, and let hip rotation drive through. I think I’ll post a video on this later today if you are interested in how to the sheath kick.
@DonatoNardizzi4 жыл бұрын
I do not entirely agree with your comment. It is a useful technique in real self-defence. It is designed for the head or body. The power of the kick is more powerful with a middle target because it more in line with your centre of mass, however, using the kick to the head is more effective in inflicting damage to the opponent or knocking them out.
@DevilDogMartialArts-4 жыл бұрын
@@DonatoNardizzi I actually was getting ready to do a video on this anyway. Please review and let me know what you think. I'm interested in keeping the commentary going on discussing the application of these moves, and how best to achieve devastating power. As you can see, I still disagree, but I hope this video helps explain my point of view. If you disagree, I only ask that you try my method in sparring a bit and let me know what you think. I think you will find the sheath kick a better alternative, as it is more powerful. I'm guessing you probably already use it, just that you don't call it that. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGeZg5egiautiKM

@@tkdkicker3728 Yes it is but this doesn't make it the correct terminology for ITF Taekwon-Do. As I teach ITF Taekwon-Do I am bound to use the correct ITF terminology which is given in the Taekwon-Do encyclopedia written by General Choi Hong Hi. Each technique has only one name.

@@DonatoNardizzi correct, sir. I moved into Kukki style after being in Chang Hon for years. Had to learn a lot of new vocabulary. To make it harder, some techniques have two names, so in a grading you might get asked something in a term you don't know!

Out of curiosity: if I were kicking a very fat person; would an abdominal kick work at all?
@DonatoNardizzi5 жыл бұрын
I guess the fat would cushion the blow to some extent so you will need a penetrating kick to reach the internal organs. Their excess weight will work against them as they will have more inertia and less power is lost from a transfer of kinetic energy. Obese people tend to have weak abdominal muscles (but not always) which means they have less protection for their internal organs. This is just my guess. I have not done any experiments (kicking fat people) to prove this.:-)
