@@catdaddy57 I went to school there at Kent State. Beautiful in the fall, always thought I’d return when finished in the military. But, I ended up here. Have you thought about picking up some kinda plane? There are groups of RV owners all over the place. You could probably find a group to fly with. Always more fun than flying by yourself. Some cool spots there in Ohio to take a day trip to. The nice thing about Utah is there are tons of wide open, sparsely populated areas for low level flying.

Amazingly well done video! Incredible scenery! I would just suggest that you shoot and upload at 60fps instead of 30fps. It makes a big difference as far as the realism.
@WheelsInTheSky9 ай бұрын
@igclapp Thanks. Yes, maybe when Insta360 comes out with their X4. I have X2’s and X3’s. When shooting in 360 and at 5.7k (the maximum), the frame rates available are 24, 25, and 30. I know most cameras that aren’t 360, can shoot at higher frame rates. I’ll check out GoPro’s latest Max2. Early on I had bought a GoPro Max but returned it after the first use. The stitching and stabilization weren’t as good as the Insta 360. But now that GoPro has a new 360, I would expect it to be better than the Insta. They seem to leap frog each other every time one of them comes out with a new camera.

PS. Hopefully Dji will jump into the 360 market !!
@WheelsInTheSky9 ай бұрын
@igclapp. Let me add, if you record in 4k, you can do 60fps. In 3k, up to 100fps. But, you loose so much resolution in editing a 360 video, it’s best to start out recording in the highest resolution possible- which is 5.7k. In the beginning, I thought 4k is plenty, but it’s not in 360 video.

@Jack. Sorry Jack, thought you were referring to my southern Utah video I also just posted. In the video you’re referring to, we videoed a few weeks back, just before the warm up. There was some flooding in the valleys right after. Also around Morgan, their river was overflowing. I took my Husky up and videoed some of the flooding around Morgan for the city officials to look at. It seems to be under control now, we’ll see how it looks if it gets hot fast.

Hi, Dan again. Do you still feel the 1/2" steel conduit is the way to go ? If traveling can't easily stow that long tube anywhere, at least not in my plane. I recently bought an Insta X3 at your recommendation. Now to work up the Mounting to the wing, I'll do mine on top, also wing tip attachment screws location.
@WheelsInTheSky Жыл бұрын
@Dan Blumel. Hey Dan. I haven’t really tested anything else. I may try a carbon fiber pole on my Husky. But for the faster speeds I’ve stuck with the conduit. You could try a shorter piece. Some guys have told me they’re happy with the video using shorter poles.
@danblumel Жыл бұрын
@@WheelsInTheSky yes, I've considered the higher speeds, Trent Palmer uses the carbon fiber extending pole. But only about 100 mph and no aerobatics.

@@WheelsInTheSky I'm gonna paint the last foot or more of it near the camera bright yellow. I should have it all done, the next couple of weeks or so.
@WheelsInTheSky Жыл бұрын
@Dan Blumel. That should help people see it. Unless it causes too much reflection that somehow interferes, especially when under “g’s” and there’s a little flexing, where the pole is almost exposed to the camera. I think most selfie sticks are black. But , that may not be the reason??? If you notice a problem, you can always just repaint and go with a yellow flag. In the hanger, I also use a big orange cone. Let me know how it goes. I’m thinking I may paint my pole and attach hardware flat black. The hardware give me a little glare sometimes.

Is there a way for the 360 camera to film as if it was from the airplane’s perspective? ie, when doing a roll having the horizon rotate around the screen, rather than the horizon staying level and the airplane rolling around the screen? I hope that made sense.
