As far as the Bible goes, you have to realize it was written during times when most people in the world were extremely evil. I also disagree with the second part. I don't know about Jesus, but I am pretty sure Muhammad was a real person, not all the things written about him really happened, but the conquering of the middle-east definitely did, and I do not doubt that Muhammad was its leader.

Your comment seems a little strange because much of the bible was clearly written as inspired religious documents. The traditional views have leaned in the direction of the work being infallible, and that is where I make my case. The modern moderates who claim it is merely inspired are just as ridiculous as the ones who (as with most fundamentalists) think it is infallible, because neither have any evidence to support their claim, and both are speaking for a presumed creator of everything that they couldn't possibly speak for. If what you're saying is that most of the bible was at one time historical documentation, then I would probably agree with you, but that is beside the point because it is surely not presented as such today. But I _would_ agree that most Christians probably haven't actually read their holy book.
