Fun fact: Cheech and Chong got their start right here in Vancouver, at a topless bar Tommy used to own called The Shanghai Junk. It's now my bank. 😋They did skits between the dancers, polishing their act. Then when they made Up in Smoke, Sgt. Stedenko was based off of real Vancouver drug squad member, Abe Snidanko. After the movie came out, his cover was blown. He was sent to work in another country. They sent him an autographed picture when he retired. 😋 I saw C&C on stage here back in 2013, and they explained Up in Smoke was based on Vancouver stoner comedy. 😎 Another fun fact: 2 blocks south down the alleyway from The Shanghai Junk, there was Vie's Chicken and Steak House... Jimi Hendrix's grandmother Nora was the cook. Jimi used to practice there after hours. Imagine living in the neighbourhood back then. Jimi's dad was born here, then after moving to Seattle, Jimi was born. Jimi spent time up here during the summers, and spent at least grade 1 and grade 5 up here. He later returned after being discharged from the army, then eventually started playing gigs at a club in Vancouver. Nora is a star on her own... co-founding Vancouver's first black church, as well as being a community activist. Her home is now a heritage home... Hendrix House. She's the first black woman to get a street named after her in Vancouver, and she's even on a Canadian Heritage stamp. 🙂

I loved in one of the albums when they picked up a guy who needed a ride cheech I think started showing off engine (or an ambulance got behind em, cant remember its been like 25 years) and he just needed a ride to the end of block. Which was waaay behind them now. Daves not here and April fools were also favorites. These guys are great. Just recently played sister mary elephant for my kids. My dad introduced me to them in like 92.
