I am asian, not (yet) a vegan, but I eat tofu skin in soups growing up. Never know that they could be fried as a mock chicken. That looks so damn good oh my god

wow and we have tofu skins in the house. I just never thought to do this with them. we usually make "beef" dip sandwiches with them but I will be trying these for sure. looks amazing!

Would not know this wasn't chicken if I didn’t make it myself. It was just so greasy and I'm not used to fried foods. Will try this in the air fryer next time but a great base recipe.

Foods that are genetically modified or not, and contain sodium, sugar, dyes, and a host of other toxic chemicals but don't contain dairy or any meat are vegan and unhealthy. It's assumed vegan means healthy yet learning that it simply means a food that does not contain any meat or dairy corrects that assumption. These alternative dishes should not be eaten regularly either. Although the toxic load is certainly reduced within the body because they can be prepared with quality ingredients that are not heavily processed, and have less exposure to high heat it's still a fried food with sodium therefore it has calories. I would choose to use mushrooms to make mock fried chicken. I avoid eating non-fermented soy-based food. However, this recipe using the tofu skins certainly produces a better-looking and crispier version of fried chicken and it looks delicious.
