@@SortedFoodI agree with the relaxation aspect. However, there's a health warning missing in this particular video: The insides of tins are coated with a material that keeps the food from taking on a metal taste. That (toxic) coating will "melt" and leak into the food when heated up above a certain temperature. Not immediately lethal or anything, just something to be aware of that should have been mentioned, I think.

Hwachae does go back to the age told in the video, but as people didn't have access to ice as mentioned, it was just flower/fruit/vegetables soaked in cold river water. That's crazy that "toilet paper tinned fish" is a trend! My country has a mandatory military service and field rations are all tinned food - including tinned tuna. Regarding "fizzy milk". There is a drink I remember fondly as a kid in New York, USA, called the "Egg Cream". It's a simple drink: milk, unflavored seltzer, chocolate syrup. In a tall glass, preferably chilled. Syrup goes in the bottom, then your desired quantity of milk, mix it a little, then add seltzer. While adding seltzer, vigorously "whip" the drink with a spoon. The end result is a slightly carbonated, chocolatey milk drink with a frothy head. Hershey's Chocolate Syrup is the go-to, but when I was a kid I remember my mom making it with Fox's U-Bet as well. The drink was even featured in an episode of The West Wing, in which the US president marvels at the creation but is dismayed that it comes from Brooklyn and not his native New Hampshire. I occasionally still find myself picking up some seltzer to make one at home, more than 40 years later. Pro tip: "flavored" seltzers like the super cheap 1 liter bottles of Polar you get at the grocery store also work great. I like Orange or Black Cherry. The two requirements are 1) no skim milk, and 2) fresh seltzer only. If there's no fizz you've just made watery chocolate milk.

I appreciated the comment about accessibility as a celiac. Yes it isn't a traditional croissant, but it is now something that I can try and decide if it is a good enough equivalent for me.

Would LOVE to see a video challenge / series where the Normals are pitted against member(s) of the Production Crew. The Production Crew member gets to choose a meal from Sidekick, gets to use the App during cooking, but the Normal only gets to know the name of the dish. Full ingredients are given to both. Ben and/or Kush get to blind taste-test who cooked which dish.

I am not religious…but I am French! When you started talking about rice paper “croissants” and went on to make them, I actually involuntarily made the sign of the cross🫣🫣🫣 Unfortunately, I was still breathing when you started to bite into them - there was no escaping this travesty😱

I just wanna leave a comment to counteract the majority of people hating on ASMR - its perfectly okay not to like it, but please do not shame and make fun of people who listen to it. It helps so many people sleep, relax and improves their overall mental health! :) (fun fact: most people experienced ASMR in their lives before but just did not know what to call that feeling 😉)

I am extremely disappointed in the community. I understand not liking it. But the amount of people spreading actual hatred and malace is just so disheartening.

Like the tin fish fire, in 1970's Canada, we had a BBQ that was cone shaped about 2' tall & collapsed into one 6" high ring. It cooked hamburgers by using crumpled up newspaper & the fat from the cooking burgers. My parents took it with us when we went camping. As long as you had burgers, you could also cook some hot dogs too.

Not a trend, but something I got hooked on when I lived in South Africa: ostrich burgers with bacon and a slice of grilled pineapple. Ostrich is very much like really lean beef, but quite gamey - which pairs well with fruity flavours. The sale and smokiness of (streaky) bacon adds to the meatiness, while the pineapple gives a burst of sweet, tart fruitiness. A splash of cider vinegar on it really sets it off, in my view. For bonus points, serve with chips, onion rings and mushrooms.

I might try cutting the rice paper before soaking, seems like that would make things a little less messy. I'd also try rolling them over a greased cylindrical form (akin to cannoli) and removing it partway through baking, to ensure the entire "pastry" is cooked through, could even pipe in some filling then!

Funnily enough it's not French as in "From France," it's French as in "Joseph French forgot the S when trying to write French's Toast in his popular cookbook." Eggy bread, poor knight's pudding, Spanish toast, German Toast, Bombay toast, there's 100 names for it because in reality it's an ancient Roman dish! In fact, in France it was called Roman Toast for hundreds of years, because the first record of the recipe is from 300's Rome.

Similar note to the fishwick, if you have some paper towels you've used to clean up oil, you can keep them away and use them to light up charcoal for a grill or even a wood stove.

using a co2 foamer to make ice cream, i remember the guys from science channel, in a video on their uk feed did it. i watched a video for it on Netflix, when i still had an account. it was simple, cream, half and half, half a cup of sugar and milk. the only thing that was put in the freezer, with the lid on, was the container. the co2 was used to create a cold, foam made out of the cream mixture. the measurements are one cup cream, half a cup of half and half, half a cup of of milk and half a cup of sugar. what's supposed to happen is the cream is meant to thicken it, if it's refrigerated in a sealed bowl. do not freeze this. also a little coco powder can be used in the place of the sugar, as most coco mixes are presweetened. nestle strawberry milk powder works too. both are great for a flavored, eggless mousse like dessert. torani coffee or flavored syrups work, just not the ones that are citrus fruit.

There's a make-up trend about "glowing up", which basically means people are making themselves shiny rather than matte on purpose. Might be ok under normal circumstances, but as a wedding photographer I can tell you it's an absolute nightmare when cameras and lights are involved.
