One of my favorite Chelsea Grin songs ever. I think its extremely underrated song that sounds so good. What got me hooked on this song is literally that guitar riff at the beginning and the overall feel of this song just so amazing.

LYRICS I won’t be beaten or broken I’ll reclaim what was stolen This is who I’ve become What once was weak is now strong I stare From my window looking outside Sometimes I wanna just die I feel Like I’m rotting on the inside Too much has passed me on by I can’t keep living life like this There’s too many things that I have missed With these words I’ll make one last wish Take my regret and grant me life’s kiss This is who I am I won’t be beaten or broken I’ll reclaim what was stolen This is who I’ve become What once was weak is now strong As I look at myself in the mirror I have never seen my life so clear This is the face of what I have become I accept fate and refuse to run this is who i am I won’t be beaten or broken I’ll reclaim what was stolen This is who I’ve become What once was weak is now strong I can’t erase my mistakes But I won’t bend, I won’t break This is who I’ve become This is what I am This is my life This is who I’ve become I won’t be beaten or broken I’ll reclaim what was stolen This is who I’ve become What once was weak is now strong I can’t erase my mistakes But I won’t bend, I won’t break This is who I’ve become

There is a Dash of Discovery in this album, something i anticipated as soon as Jason entered Chelsea Grin , i enjoy most of this album but the triplet feel is a little overplayed and occasionally the lyrics feel a little childish. CG has evolved in musicianship, an evolution that Richardson seems to accelerate in each band he enters. This change in musicianship is what keeps bands at the top of their game and keeps an audience entertained instead of dulling their ears with generic mindless chugging or simplistic tremolo picking. Don't get me wrong that is all fun and all but there is so much more you can do alongside it

I was super disappointed in this album up to this point, especially since I was super excited to hear more stuff with Jason aboard (not to mention Pablo's drumming), so I got half way through the album when it came out and then stopped. Just now finished the album, and they put all Jason's writing at the end of the album! I was super surprised to hear some recycled riffs from Jason's solo project on the last few songs! His writing just blows my mind! Anyone who is a fan of Dust to Dust and Undying should really check out Born Of Osiris's The Discovery and his solo work! Just to be clear, I'm not trying to hate on the album, i'm just not much of a deathcore fan, I'm just a huge fan of Jason's writing! Chelsea Grin will be one of my favorites now just because they took him in
Jasons 8 second solo has more notes in it than a Malmsteen album.
@mori61904 жыл бұрын
Love these vocals, they kinda have a black metal sound to them...
@mori61904 жыл бұрын
@H3llraiser 1302 hence why I said 'kinda', this doesn't contain as much of your typical low growls and shouts like that of deathcore, and the high screeches have a more dark, ambient sound to them, like that of black metal, I'm not denying the fact that this is a deathcore song. Music is subjective and is up to interpretation, and thus, this is how I've interpreted it...

Best song on the album next to Undying. The album was weak overall in my opinion. I'm more into My Damnation and of course Desolation of Eden, but songs like this, Undying and Nightmares made up for the album sort of. It would have been perfect if there were a bit more deeps. But that intro is stellar. Saw these guys live when they had just relased one of their music videos from DOE and they kicked so much ass. Alex Koehler walked right by me after their set to walk outside (it was fucking hot as shit in there) and I was surprised to find he only came up to my chest.
