Chelsea Manning is an American hero. Here, she downplays the bravery it truly took to stand up to the most powerful government/military in the world. Many people in her situation perhaps would have THOUGHT to tell the public those dark truths, but it takes someone with a certain amount of gall to actually come out and DO it. Thank you Chelsea. The entire world thanks you for what you exposed. Peace on Earth

As a retired US military officer, one of my biggest disappointments with Obama was that he pardoned Manning. It was a slap in the face of all the people in the US government who take seriously their oath to our constitution and try to do their best every day to safeguard our national secrets. It also diminished our national security by sending the message that you don't really need to take your oath seriously. Unfortunate, very unfortunate. Not Manning, but that Manning was pardoned.
@krumble832711 ай бұрын
So those in the military should be able to act with impunity? How can anyone be safeguarded if no one is accountable? It's completely unacceptable to criminalise whistle blowers.
@jhconjr11 ай бұрын
Manning was not a whistleblower. Manning was a spy. Manning read a 35 page document at sentencing apologizing for her actions. And nowhere in the oath that every service member and most government officials take to support and defend the Constitution of the United States are the words 'if they feel like it or it is convenient.' It is tragic that so many elected officials casually disregard their oath of office, but the oath is still there and still in effect. The problem is not with the oath, it is with those who disregard it. Duty, honor, oath and country may seem like antiquated concepts, but they are what help keep us from anarchy or authoritarianism.@@krumble8327
