I don't have a salary or food stamps right now, so the vegetables part is hard because produce is expensive. But I have beans and rice and oats and that is what I am eating. I have lost 45 pounds. I wish I could afford vegetables and fruit but I am so happy that I have the staples and don't have to spend the money. Happy with the 45 pound loss. I have about 45 left to go. Here's hoping I keep losing or get some money so I can try other things.

This is one of the best weight loss videos I've seen. Focus on satiety per calorie. Learn what keeps you full for lower calories, respect your hunger, don't look at junk food, focus on strength training over cardio. I lost 37 pounds without hunger and without counting calories, that was about a year ago so sustaining my current weight without issues.

ABSOLUTELY the BEST ever advice in this video! I'm an older lady in my early 70s and I'm handicapped so my exercise levels are very low. I've been plant based for ages and so far I've lost 106 pounds. It has taken YEARS! I had health issues and when you're on certain medications like Prednisone long term it's almost impossible to lose weight. I tried so hard but I did begin to lose...there were setbacks though. Frustrations. Giving up and going back to it. In the last 2 years I've lost 59 pounds. I still have a way to go. Since I am basically a plant myself in that I don't move around too much it's difficult. However...considering the information I'm getting from this video alone will make a huge difference! I am going to take your suggestions and I'm sure it will be so helpful. I love your idea about averaging out my weight for the whole week and not daily. That makes so much sense! Thank you SO much for all the information. It's genius!!

Same!! I stuff myself way too much then I don’t eat again until I’m so hungry! Even now that I’m aware I keep doing it. I am vegan and I do like fruit and veggies but I know I’m not eating enough of them. I hardly ever snack. I just seem to be very chaotic around food choices. I just don’t know how to be calm and keep a routine. I want to be the kind of person who eats like her 90% because it does look good, and have fun junky foods on occasion and actually enjoy them knowing I’m not like out of control. Is that too much to ask? lol 😅. I love that she is really giving the blue print though. Well good luck to both of us!

I’ve simply lost 20 pounds in a little over 2 months just by eating more vegetables like zucchini, salads, tomatoes, cucumbers, broccoli , carrots and potatoes . I don’t eat rice or pasta and haven’t had those since I started my journey. I do have bread and usually have most of my starch and carbs in the morning because when I wake up that’s what my body craves. So typically a bowl of protein oats or toasted low calorie bread with homemade jam and eggs is my go to . Then the rest of the day I have half veggies and half protein for my meals and I’m not hungry at all even when eating in a calorie deficit. High protein keeps me full the longest.

Once again, Chelsea, you show great psychological insight when you say build habits, not goals! This is so wise. After all, goals are meaningless in themselves, and arbitrary.. They are frequently no more than wishful thinking. I worked for many years in care work with various client groups, and I was , and remain, very impatient with theories such as goal-oriented 'constructive' behaviour therapy. Every person changes their body weight and fitness level at their own individual pace, so setting goals means that some people are going to 'fail', or at least to be deemed to have failed. And this leads them to think of themselves as failures, when in fact, if they persevere, they are actually on the way to success, albeit at a slower pace than somebody else, or more slowly than their 'therapist' has deemed to be the right pace.. I really love your videos, Chelsea. And I had to laugh at the way you jumped on your bed! Your kids are adorable, and you are a beautiful young woman, and very intelligently articulate. I am so happy that I started my day today with this video, because my efforts now will NOT be primarily focused on trying to 'meet my goals' in a hopeful way, but in building daily habits to reach them. Thank you so much for this insight! God bless you and your loved ones, and all those who watch these videos.

I really needed this video, Thanks heaps Chels! I really got a lot out of every one of these 10 things... I've been watching your videos for only a little while, but this one just really hit home and I feel like I really "got it" after watching this just now. 🙌😊 Every single one of these 10 things was a lightbulb moment for me, but today I felt sooo depressed and angry with myself after binging on a whole mini carrot cake yesterday. I got on the scale this morning and saw the huge gain in weight, and felt so fat and unwell all day...the point about averaging the daily scale numbers rather than getting upset about a certain number was gold, and so was the thought that it is just data, and to emotionally detach from it. I was going ok but really hit a big binge yesterday and felt so bad all day, but now I feel a lot better that I can keep on doing these 10 things and build habits that get me where I want to be. I just ate a better dinner tonight and I will start doing better (not perfection just progress) from here on. Thank you so much for this video !! 🙏😊

This was great to hear today. Two things that I will be implementing are one, to weigh myself every day and take the average over a week. My weigh in day now is Friday and if I am up a little it throws me off for the whole weekend and that doesn’t help at all. I think it will help me. The second thing I’m implementing is to weigh out one pound of vegetables and eat them for the day. This sounds doable for me. I make a list of combination meals and it can be hard to know how much vegetables I’m actually eating. This should help. Thanks for these tips. I will probably use other ones too but these two I will start right away.

It's common advice in the bodybuilding world 2. They say have protein with carbs or protein with fat but don't mix the fat and carbs. I'm honestly not sure either. It sounds like "bro science". The only thing I can think of is the combo of fat and carbs could make the meal hyper palatable which would make it easier to overeat on.

Just wanted to let you know that some parts of this video are true but also.. it’s not as simple as that. Cutting out fats and nuts isn’t actually as helpful as that! When you cut out fats you eat more carbs and proteins. Those get turned into fat by the liver! Also calories in VS calories out is not as simple as that either. Your body adapts to you starving yourself.. so lo and behold.. the liver starts to actually create fat from carbs… especially after a huge binge cuz you starved yourself. You actually require stuff like olive oil and its nutrients to have a balanced diet. Eating large amounts of olive oil does not immediately translate into you becoming more fat either. Key clearly is moderation and balance. Don’t cut out fats please!🙏

Also, heres some advice: if you dont drink water, then eventually, you will hit a permanent plateau. There are two ways to go to lose weight. Low carb, high fat. Which reduces water weight by getting rid of the carbs that cause you to retain water. Then there is high carb, low fat, which retains water in favour of losing actual fat on your body. Either one can work, but only one of them is healthy for you.
