It’s a shame because when she came out that Nashville crucified her. I read her book and I cried through parts of it. Now we have an openly gay male, one of a duo, that says he’s tired of not seeing any videos of same sex couples on country music tv. That’s great I hope they do whatever they want to. It just isn’t fair that an artist of Chely’s class and significance in her song writing and singing is still paying for standing her ground. Her last country album was made with her almost killing her self. I saw the videos and they were absolutely beautiful but I knew she had cancer and was dying. Nope! She was just dying from a heart break because she couldn’t come out and lost her love of a number of years because of it. In the end, she did come out, but only after she sat with a pistol in her hands and then in her mouth because she was broken over losing some one for she knew that coming out at that time would kill her career. It didn’t matter when it was, it killed her Nashville career but she gained so much! In case anyone thinks I’m anti gay, I’m not. My only daughter is a lesbian and I have never turned my back on her. I even talk about her homosexuality with people. It is not for me. But I am not anyone’s judge. I pray for her and love her with my whole heart. In the end, all I want is her happy and healthy. Let’s all remember, you do you, I’ll do me, and let the rest do what ever they want. Not our place to do anything but love them unconditionally. This is being said because I know what the Bible says about homosexuality but I also know what it says about LOVE! Love is above all in the Bible! Hate the sin, love the sinner.

I am a straight woman and it baffles me that an artists sexuality makes any difference whatsoever to the amazing music they make. I have been a fan of hers from when she first started out in the early 1990’s. I can’t make sense of why anyone thinks her being gay or not has any impact on her ability to make beautiful music.

I am. Chely Wright is a truly beautiful person, inside and out. Every ten years or so, country music is blessed with a voice like hers. The most recent is Carly Pearce. These are voices with which God has gifted us. We should listen and enjoy every syllable. By the way, Chely is the only person to whom I've proposed marriage. Her response, beside her tour bus outside of Regal, Minnesota, was "Not now." I have no bitter feelings, Chely. Just keep on being the absolutely, amazing human being you are. Love you.

Then single white female came on cmt, Something about her touched me. I became infatuated but that infatuation saved me. After a year or so later I knew she was gay before she even came out. I just felt it in my soul. Why would one of the most beautiful sensual women in the world not be attached right. lol When she finally did, it was no surprise and I wish her all the happiness in the world. I think that people forget that, a singer has the opportunity to sing a song either from their own experiences or for those that can't sing about their own. In my opinion, this is all that matters in country music. Someone's story was told through this song. The song doesn't have to be from the artist's life, Chely lived the way she thought she should but now that she has come out suddenly her songs are ineffective? Some listeners may want to close their ears to the relative story behind this song and pick at straws about the singer's life but I choose to listen indescriminantly and appreciate the song for whatever personal relation I put on it.

Years ago I remember hearing this song, and thinking it would do well. Between words that are easily felt, music that compliments the song from the opening, camera angles with black and white emotions, showing the strength of crying and being upset, this is one of the best songs written, produced, and sung. Listen to it once, then feel the emotions when watching it the second time, third time you might be singing it because it was something you went through. Just beautiful.

As for the comments, well, I didn't even for one minute think that anyone was or wasn't gay... It doesn't matter... When one sings a love song, to one or to all, one is encompassing all that is love and that is us all... We're all in every love song... "...it was all that and more..." she sings... Awesome awesome! I've got a new song in my heart for today to sing to you! Remember, there are many different kinds of love... I think the old Greek philosophy states five or more kinds... and that's just one interpretation! Wow! I'm chuffed! My first time hearing you, dear Chely, and it's awesome!
