Same! I was younger than 16, but I was with my Daddy. I was a Daddy’s girl through and through and wouldn’t let him go anywhere without me. He LOVED country music and country gospel. Anyways, we’d be together in the car and I’d sing my little heart out to this song. Windows down and all. That’s what this song takes me back to every time. He’s been gone 12 years now and I find these songs to feel closer to him. ❤

And people said that when this type of country was popular back in the day. Said it was "too poppy, or bordering on southern rock".

Laid my dad to rest Tuesday afternoon. He was laid to rest in the Dayton (Ohio) National Cemetery as he had served in both the Navy (1945-1947) and Army (1949-1953). I think about our "walk", with him sending me off to school and then off to the military, and then - that last walk as he'd grown old and grey and his mind had started failing. Love you, dad. I wish I could tell you how proud I am that you're my dad.
