Same! I was younger than 16, but I was with my Daddy. I was a Daddy’s girl through and through and wouldn’t let him go anywhere without me. He LOVED country music and country gospel. Anyways, we’d be together in the car and I’d sing my little heart out to this song. Windows down and all. That’s what this song takes me back to every time. He’s been gone 12 years now and I find these songs to feel closer to him. ❤

Takes me back to 1992 on an open stage in Detroit. Michelle Wright, Mark Chestnut played, Pam was next and it started to rain... They wouldn't let her play because of the rain. It started to let up and she came out with her acoustic and started singing to those of us that stayed, rain stopped and her band joined in, it was most memorable concert I`ve ever been to!

@@nealdeford321 cool I just thought it might have been the hoedown I seen a lot of new Country artists starting their careers at the hoedown . Like Clay Walker Clint Black . I even seen Hank Williams Jr there way back in 82 or 83 it was I think the first year for the hoedown. To be honest with you I didn’t even know who Hank Jr was at that time I went with a buddy of mine that used togo school in Tennessee and then come back to summer in Detroit his parents didn’t want him going to Detroit Public schools . I lived in southwest Detroit & went to southwestern hi school class of 84..I was 16 in 82 and I only listened to rock . But after that I slowly started listening to some country music.

I promised myself that if I ever got to meet her, I'd thank her for getting me hooked on country music (Mi Vida Loca was the song that did it for me) ANd so I did. I heard Loretta Lynn when speaking of who she liked of the younger generation of singers mention that she liked Trisha even though she “isn’t Country”. Not even sure what “true Country” means to you, but “Maybe It Was Memphis” is a Rock song. There were a number of fine women singers on Country radio in the 90’s. Categorizing some as “true” while by default implying the others were false is just toxic.

There just aren't any female performers as talented today as Pam Tillis has been during her career, so many of her songs have stood the test of time and it is nearly impossible to find any current female artists who compare.

Laid my dad to rest Tuesday afternoon. He was laid to rest in the Dayton (Ohio) National Cemetery as he had served in both the Navy (1945-1947) and Army (1949-1953). I think about our "walk", with him sending me off to school and then off to the military, and then - that last walk as he'd grown old and grey and his mind had started failing. Love you, dad. I wish I could tell you how proud I am that you're my dad.
