Without looking closer at the handbrake mechanism myself, it may be possible to stack some washers or something to limit the minimum engagement and adjust the software dead zone so you still get the proper feel at the end of the throw

Thanks for the info. The sharpness and lightness of the handbrake looks better than my Heusinkveld v2 although i haven't set any curves with mine. I bought the Q1 shifter a year ago primarily on your review. It is a beast. Really good and quiet when you want it to be. I am against H+Sq combined shifters purely on principle. I bolted my Frex shifter straight onto 8040 side rail, alone onto my right side and by heck, the difference that makes to driving vehicles, especially with clutch is something else. Heavy clunky shifters are the way to go for upgrade. Simagic supply a spare ball with their Q1, likely the same here. Your work, fun exploits are appreciated. Keep 'er between the hedges.

I use the Sim H Pattern / Sequentieller Shifter - Black Edition and the Sim Handbrake - Schwarze Edition from MME Motorsport. I have used the Shifter & FlyOff Fanatec hardware for years. Compared to Fanatec, the MME simracing hardware is another world. MME Motorsport develops and manufactures real motorsport gearboxes including electronics and you can see that in their simracing hardware. Maybe you can organise a comparison test of the MME hardware, your impressions would be very interesting. Best regards from Tyrol/Austria

The TB1 handbrake seems worth buying to me. I wouldn't mind the long movement on the handbrake personally. I think i would rather go with a dedicated sequential shifter and keep my TH8A for the few H shifter cars.

I do believe that your simracing reviews are THE BEST out there! you're so calm It soothes me! And that's why I think that maybe you can help me! I have a big problem with my simagic shifter! My ds-8x is not connecting to the PC! I have everything connected to a hub, and the usb connection ain't even lighting up (the hubhas an individual light for each connection) i tried plugging directly to the pc and in different hub ports, no difference! Its like it isnt there!!! Tried different cables from the alpha mini and even tried in on another computer! the problem persists! It is getting power tho! If I peek inside I can see the green light you talk in the video! tried contactacting the reseller, but as it arrived yesterday, Saturday, I haven't received any response! I think it's driver/software related! So i'd rather fix it than have sent to warranty and the new one coming in exactly the same! Therefore, I ask for your help! How do I open it up? What bolts did you take out in order to open the top plate! Any help you can give is very much welcome!!! Thank you! Keep up the good work!!!

@@chepilevskiActually managed to find the problem! The connector on the shifter is faulty! it does work, however the cable has to be pushed up for it make connection and be recognized by the PC!!! I'm still sending it back for warranty for obvious reasons!

I see the 7/8th gear lockout more so it can be configured with reverse on either side, depending on usecase. It's much more common to have reverse on different sides than having a 7th manual gear.

If you care more about sequential shifting the Q1 is the one ! If you wanted both world and gonna use H pattern then the DS ! They are not great for what they do buddy!

Hi legend, the mechanics in that shifter are similar to automotive salt tables, both in the gearboxes and in the salting mechanisms themselves, I know because I've been a mechanic for a long time, thanks for the review

I like how it looks when you change the gears, but as long as u can miss shift ie what u call bad clutch syncronisation. No real car i have driven had worked like that what we get when we miss shift with a h-pattern stick in sims. The stick should not be allowed to travel to the gear position if the clutch is not engaged, somehow the brands that makes manual h-pattern sticks should have thought of this and prevent the gear stick to be moved to next gear when clutch in not engaged properly, some kind of timing and mechanism should prevent from doing that. Still waiting for a proper h-shifter.

Hey Steliyan. Could you please do a video on Simucube 2 safety? I saw a thread on reddit 2 months back where someone broke their hand with a SC2 pro and it would be cool if you could do a video explaining why it happened and how to stay 100% safe. Feels scary to buy a product that can suddenly maim you if you have a wrong setting somewhere. It had something to do with calibration in iRacing and starting a race with your wheel turned a few degrees and it trying to autocorrect made it go bananas

I will rate them In use as very similar and the R9 is way better priced but Simagic have better wheels options ! From driving experience they are very very close and the choice in my opinion must be more about wheel choices and budget!

Awesome review I've been waiting for this one. I noticed in the Simpro software there is an option to have a sequential shifter map to the paddles of the wheel so they do the same thing. Do you know if this is possible with the DS-8X in SQ mode? I play a lot of WRC Generations and have to use a 3rd party software to accomplish this with my Aiologs shifter and Simagic Wheel.

Ah no, the DS is way quieter then the SQ as here the noise comes from the plastic ball and in the SQ1 is metallic sound

in Sequential mode, how does it compare to the Q1? I've been eyeballing this shifter since release, but I would really prefer spending the extra money if necessary if it can't give me a realistic experience in both H and S mode. Like you said, H pattern is a dying breed, however it's still a blast to drive when you get the chance.

They have different feelings in SQ mod buddy as the SD-8S have deeper movement because of the H shifting mechanism!

No Ryan , the SQ have that same plastic part but the noise comes from the gear wheel inside which make the klick sound!

It is not dump question at all buddy! There was I time wen I raced in world championship and the adrenaline in every start pushed me to lean my entire body on the wheel and I was loosing my precision! I decided to fix my body in the seat and not be able to move except my hand ! It is mostly physiologically thing I needed to relax in the first 3-5 minutes of the race !

@@chepilevski that is true. It could be an optical illusion because the length of the shifter but that also means it might be possible to replace it with a shorter shifter that would give you a shorter throw.

I totally understand what you men and I’m planning to make full video off all products I’ve tested and rate them but that will be very complex video as too many things must be taken in count ! I need to test few more products and then will start rating them and compare them side by side!
