Why didn't Cher make more films?
@michaeloberg30184 жыл бұрын
Lommy She got diagnosed with Epstein-Barr and was exhausted after making 3 films in one year, winning the Oscar, and all the things that come along with all that. She turned down many movies and focused back on music in 1989-1990 with a huge album (Heart of Stone). By the time she opted to do 'Mermaids' in 1990, people had forgotten what a marvelous actress she really is. She had begun infomercials and was becoming a bit of a punchline in Hollywood. She was able to get back into the music biz with 'Believe' in 1998 but she never really managed to become the big actress she seemed destined to become back in 1987. For the record, in 1987, Cher was the highest paid actress in Hollywood at the time!

May 2019 Everyone should watch the film or DVD Silkwood because it is one of the best films ever made. Why? Because of Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, Fukushima, and all the dangerous toxic waste from nuclear power plants with nowhere to go. It is very dangerous to live or even drive by a nuclear power plant waste dump 'storage.' Las Vegas is currently the waste dump for the toxic crap from the east coast. The new 'tiny' nuclear power plants have the exact same problem. Even if it is only the size of a can of Coke, it is probably even MORE dangerous, because ANYONE can put in a suitcase or backpack and take it anywhere.

Well, probably had the do with the fact that the story about Billie Holliday portrait in this movie is complety false. I do agree that Diana Ross played it beautifully, although her thin voice is nothing like Billie's. But showing of Louis McKay as the man who wanted to save her from drugs is a joke. He was a complete lowlife who drew her down with him. That must have influenced the Academy in their decision. Can Diana Ross act? Yep, she can. Was this a true biopic? Nope. It was the Hollywood version of Billie Hollidays life. And that probably cost her the Oscar.
