That’s funny. 😊 I’m forgetting that it’s a way to rate the puzzle, clicked upvote out of habit.

The whole point is to attack the knight which is the only defender of mate. Attack it with the rook after gaining your tempo on the open file. How do you not understand that puzzle???!?@ChessNetwork

@@TheBrawlmastahhuman error... An oversight maybe? It must be difficult for you to relate to that with your extremely high IQ and chess skills.

I saw the rook sacrifice almost straight away with Rh8+ - but missed the part of the sequence where Kb2 is losing due to the forced trade, too excited. Love these vids Jerry!

Hey, it’s 2024. Could we maybe please get some New York 1924 chess tournament videos? The hundred year anniversary would be cool. Plus it features the three world champs, and it would be cool if you could show the first of them 3 win a game on this channel after so long

I do not remember 2200 puzzles being this complicated haha. I was able to breeze through most of them a couple of years ago. I guess they've increased the difficulty a bit now.

3rd puzzle really wasn't a bad one. The idea was simply to get the queen off of the d file and we had to use the b-rook because otherwise Qf4 would be a move, forcing queen exchange on the next move. So, the idea was Rd8 and then Rd3 attempting to dislodge the knight to deliver mate.

I saw this one. I believe the idea here was to play Rd3 after the queen moves and then remove the defender of g2.

8:41 I calculated Rd3 after Qb4. Take out the knight. And the computer says its good, but I completely missed c5!! That's a crazy line. Black has better. Instead of Rd3 it is Bh6 or Bd4. But if you pick Bd4 or Rd3, you fail the puzzle if it went into that line. And I don't think that is fair. Both moves are good. You should get awarded with points for those moves. Okay, I didn't explain that very well. Because after Rbd8 the answer is immediately c5 and not Qb4. But there are puzzles that go on and on. You have to pick the absolute best line every move. If you pick a lesser but winning move, you fail and lose rating. That's just ridiculous.

Gotta thumbsdown those bad puzzles - these are algorithmically generated, so voting them down if they're not good lets them fall out of the rotation eventually.

What? Rbd8 - Qc7 (Qb4) - Rd3 and winning the Knight at least, c5 is forced to open up f1 square etc.

so great to hear your follow ups on some of these Lichess puzzles, they always left me a little unsatisfied too being computer generated and often ending prematurely
@deyesed3 ай бұрын
They're actually from played games. That's why some of them are iffy, the engine can calculate really far so what it deems a "critical" position can be baffling for humans.

in a puzzle we know there is one *best set of moves* so we seek them out and check the results in advance in a game many moves are possible and we seek more "intermediate" moves
@phen-themoogle76513 ай бұрын
Puzzles are easier than full games. They are only one position at a time and you know it’s the critical position. In a real game you might not realize you have a winning tactic always or could notice it a move too late when under time pressure. If you are solving puzzles on a strict timer though it might be a bit more accurate. I’m also guilty of being higher at puzzles(by a lot) , I made it to 3050 puzzles and I’m only 2000-2100 rapid. That’s like 1000 points difference 😂 My puzzles is lower on lichess though since they are usually harder there or I solved less.
