The Boor Attack with 5. f3 is a tricky opening for black. It leads to something similar to the Fantasy variation of the Caro-Kann. Black playing 5. Qb6 against f3 which is an idea from the Fantasy variation is an easier and more practical line to follow than playing 5. Nc6

I am a beginner at chess. After I watched your ,'why Simon's love French Defence' course. I improved my play significantly. Fun to watch and play chess. Thanks Simon ❤

Beastly video, that attack was disgusting! That Reykjavik opening round 2 game may be your immortal game too, absolutely beautiful mating attacks!

Hats off, acclaim, kudos, and a slight bow. Rf1 instead of 0-0 is so cool - a virtual castle. You make life less boring for everyone, may G-d bless you.

Someone in Iceland played an absolutely CRAZY game where they TOTALLY DOMINATED in this line. I stopped the vid at 1:24, so I hope u don’t say who it was and ruin the surprise while I look it up 😳

Hi Simon, I’m low rated but watched this yesterday and got to put it into action today- opponent didn’t take on e4 and so rolled into a lovely Greek gift- prior to this I had no great responses to the Slav so thanks very much for the line!

Hopefully this course will also cover interesting ideas against e6, as he did in an old DVD! either way, it'll be a must buy to complement my 1.c4 repertoire.

I'd love a course on this opening. I tried briefly to learn it after your game in Iceland but I'm not a French player and found some of those lines difficult to navigate.

There's a Chessable course by Carl Boor, one of the people who uses it a lot, if you're interested.

What happen to never play f3? I am totally confused now.
@georgegeorgopoulos1861
@georgegeorgopoulos1861 Жыл бұрын
Haha ... All rules of thumb in chess that go 'Never play ...' should actually be ' Rarely play ...' because one can always find some special position that the so called "rule" fails! Especially for f3 you can check Sicilian Dragon - Yugoslav attack where f3 is essential, also in Caro Can fantasy variation white plays f3...
