@@lopezlion3164 I like that series, but aman's simple 'habits' are much easier for me to digest and actually immediately use in game than the more abstract concepts from daniel and other folks. In particular Aman's simplification of the opening is very useful. GMs like naroditsky often take it for granted that most beginner players simply do not know the openings. it is easy to understand a move when its explained to you by someone who knows the theory, but actually knowing to play that move in game is another story. of course learning openings is necessary eventually, but aman has proven you can get to 1200+ with basic opening habits.

Sorry, don't support Aman and Eric, I once met them both at the Pizza hut buffet line, they were behind me and I had just taken the last 2 slices of the BBQ Americano when they both started squawking and slowly began flapping their arms at me. They were hissing, gesturing for the pizza, Eric was chanting "push him baby" while Aman push-poked me in the chest. I didn't know what to do. I cowered in the corner embracing my plate while they both swooped down and took a slice each. Don't support those guys.

Im a middle aged guy who never played (started Dec 2020) and just started in my spare time. I capped out around mid 800s in March 2021 and was about to quit bc I didn't think I was capable of getting any better. I know I still suck but after about a week of watching and using (attempting to use) these habits I'm now up to 1020. This series is like a master class on how to learn chess and I can't believe it's free. Thank you so much for taking the time to do all this. I might even get to my long term goal of 1500 one day.

Congratulations! I'm happy to hear about your improvement. I am 100% sure you can get 1500. While its true that starting late doesn't help, and some people naturally have an easier time, almost anybody can get 1500. Good luck!
