People blunder that many pieces all the way until 800/900 rating. And even at 900-1400 people still blunder badly, although not as frequently. But it’s unlikely that a 200 rated player would develop his pieces the way he did in this video and set up a checkmate

Opponent wins = Dislikes = No Views only applies if you make up random extra rules that make the challenge harder than it's supposed to be. This one you played well but was just outplayed by a "246" rated player. My only note, wouldn't it have been better to take with pawn, since it doesn't force the pawn back to it's original position?

i believe a proper strategy for this challenge would be focus on opening up your rook columns and bishop diagonals, so they can protect out on the board and move home in one turn if needed. then up your pawn game for capturing outside of your rook's and bishop's sight. knights are basically useless. dont focus on checkmating, just take advantage of 100 rated blunders until your opponent resigns for being low on material.

I think you could have won by creatively interpreting the rules? Nothing in the rules stated you were required to bring back the piece before making any other moves. It could have been interpreted the piece had to go back to its original spot before it could capture anymore pieces.

The challenge didn't say you had to immediately bring the prey back to share the loot, just that you have to do that at some point. I would interpret that as "before you can take another piece (or pawn)." I'd have been disappointed if he had played Qe7 pinning the knight and you ended the video.

If that were the case then I can totally see him starting to forget which piece captured what (as well as having to worry about timing) so doing it immediately, while crippling, made the challenge easier for him to execute

Loot is super important, This is how I used to imagine and play the game as a kid!
I think in this challenge you'd have to ignore simple piece gains and try to just go for mate asap. And try to get as many trades as possible where you take back with a pawn. That saves a lot of moves.
