I'm above 1000 but still find these kinds of tactical reminders helpful. BTW, wanted to mention I just purchased your caro-kann course and am looking forward to going through it. Can't wait for the Jobava course! Happy to support what you are doing - your videos are some of the best (and most practical) available.

Commenting before watching the video. I am currently trying to reach 3000 puzzle rating. My peak was 2985 2 days ago. Won’t give up. Im 1500 rapid but willing to improve.
@melh93716 сағат бұрын
Puzzles are easy because you start knowing there's an answer to the problem So, most of the time, you can find that answer by process of elimination But in-game, you either gotta create the problem, or notice it when it arises-meaning lots of consistent calculation throughout the game I've reached 3,000 puzzle rating a couple days ago, but I don't feel like I'm gaining game-transferable benefits More like I'm only getting better at puzzles 😞
@janjet16916 сағат бұрын
@ well I kinda agree but it also goes the other way. In a game you play the whole time and you know how you got into a position and what your threads were. In a puzzle you get thrown into a random position and you first have to figure everything out. I know puzzle rating doesn’t mean you are a good player but improving the tactical vision truly won’t hurt anyone.

And puzzles are fun. I'm only 1664, but I enjoy playing games. That's why I play chess. This was a great video, huh guys?

I’m all for these videos. My biggest struggle is the end game if there could be some teaching on your thoughts on that. Merry Christmas homie!
@karthikeyanv66110 сағат бұрын
Endgames are a big struggle because they tend to be super theoretical. Best place to start are rook endgames and aiming to get to rook endgames, the theory there is a bit more intuitive. But you might already know this lol and are trying to learn actual theory, in that case I wish you luck.

the goal is not to play the most precise moves, but the simplest. I considered that moving the knight again before finishing development would be defeating the purpose of the series.

It was an interesting video style. My rapid is just over 1000 elo, but my blitz is only 603. Not making mistakes and playing the London and Jobava London definitely make it interesting. I do struggle with the low time amount though so simple concepts help.

Brilliant Teacher! All those generously thrown in spot on analogies, really help the key learnings sink in well. You are a Whale of a teacher helping me take my chess to the next level. Thank you You Tube for helping me catch a whale with a fishing stick 😂 - as famously said by someone in this video. Meanwhile, I constantly find myself feeling as if I am stealing candy from a baby (another Banzea quote) playing the Jobava. Last night defeated an opponent half asleep - and these babies are rated 1800+ 😂.

40:07 Mon Loner sounds like a Star Wars character and 42:32 Lawn Moaner sounds kinda rude. But then again Ladder Mate sounds kinda rude when you think about it! 🪜😜 I kid, but believe me my best second language is basically grunts and hand gestures, so I’m not one to tease!
@PaulFeher3 сағат бұрын
I wish you would use a larger time setting in order to be able to explain comfortably until the end of the game and not get into time trouble every time.
@AlexBanzea3 сағат бұрын
feel like this 15+10 is the sweet spot below 1000 elo. It's much slower paced compared to the usual 10 minute stuff and opponents are playing quite well with time to think no matter the elo
@superdan259318 сағат бұрын
I found the first 2 examples useful, checking for vulnerable pieces and not assuming all opponents moves are good. I am around 700 elo. Examples 3 and 4 were too obvious for me; having my brain in puzzle mode I easily found the winning moves.
@CraigTempleСағат бұрын
I think the ‘win’ for all four puzzles is not spotting the tactic (which becomes intuitive with repetition), but spotting the CONDITIONS for the tactic. Building the process of analyzing the position so you can more quickly and reliably find where to look. I’m rated 2800 on chesscom puzzles and when I struggle, it’s because I’m looking for moves rather than looking for vulnerabilities and targets. Good intuition finds those, but practicing looking for them actively is a super good tip for me that will help my games (help my puzzles too).

Good video but playing a 395 elo is not a good way to teach. For sure he will blunder. It could be a lot better and interesting against a confirm player.
@AlexBanzea17 сағат бұрын
I already played quite a few, and if you are playing 15 minutes + 10 seconds each move, these guys are not terrible at all. If you don't take it seriously you will be stuck there for a while.
