People always say the grunfeld is a lot of theory so nobody plays it, so then when i play it and know like 6 moves white never knows what to do, its underrated, that being said i really love your kings indian explanations and would probably rather you continue with that

@@nickandrews2255 not sure what you mean, the grunfeld usually stops e4 entirely unless they play cxd5
@andrewwilson9123
@andrewwilson9123 10 ай бұрын
@@nickandrews2255I’m assuming you mean they play 1. E4 and you play Nf6 running into 2. E5. At that point you are playing the Alekhine Defense, not the Kings Indian. A good rule of thumb is that if there’s a pawn on e4 to make sure you have played d6 before putting your knight on f6, that way e5 is not possible
@nickandrews2255
@nickandrews2255 10 ай бұрын
Its not exaclty How I would escribe what I say however you saying knight to d7 first as well as the pawn d6 to stop this. Here is what I was describing: (w) White, B (Black) wpe4 bpg6 wpd4 bbg7 wpf4 bpd6 so now if he makes whatever move then I go knight f6 he goes pawn e5 its cooked because he could still push my knight. You saying what you said had me think ok perhaps knight d7 for black so that we could double take with the knight however the queen and bishop are blocked here so its like how we work this? This feels right to me at the moment however its like vsing a 1600 bot do this to me not able to win is difficult because I see nobody else do this move here Cheers if you have a idea or input would be greatly appreciate it cheers @@andrewwilson9123

Alex I'm a 1900 level player and I think you are just brilliant and such a fantastic teacher/coach..honestly! With all the years I've played the K.I.D., I really "missed" the core idea behind the Qe1 move, which, I fear, is a testament to my terminal weakness! Love your very, very insightful in-game analysis but even MORE, your thorough post-game reviews of alternative lines and fundamental positional ideas...you are just such a thorough coach I feel so very privileged to have you available at the click of a mouse - thank you!

Na5 is played there only when it's actually threatening to win the c4-pawn. Placing your knights on the edge like that is super dangerous otherwise. It's a concrete line, gotta watch out for those little details (but it kinda makes sense).
