Nice to hear Ed Bishop, British TV's one-stop-shop American for decades, sounding two generations younger than anyone else in this slightly crusty potboiler. Enjoyed it very much. Thanks for the upload.

Ali Tab, if you know him for that, can you please remember the name of our go-to Frenchman for decades? He must be dead by now. I can picture TV his face, round with longish dark hair, slightly balding with a centre parting. He appeared on TV and Radio during the '60s'70s' 80s

It might be Andre Maranne ? He popped up on tv and radio all through that period whenever a Frenchman was needed. He was excellent in Radio version of Murder on Orient Express with John Moffat. Still with us...at 90 something years old.

@@TheNemocharlie yes, I'd agree with 2msvalkyrie, I think it's likely to be André Maranne who cropped up everywhere, including several Pink Panther films and loads of British TV. His rich French tones gave us André, the friendly and generous chef proprietor, friend and neighbour of Basil and Sybil and serial provider of duck, with or without orange sauce.

He and Shane Rimmer used to call themselves "rent a yank" (even though Rimmer was Canadian) 😄. Loved Ed Bishop, a really fine and much underrated actor.

@@janiemason104 yep, and both were big players in the Gerry Anderson universe! Scott Tracy and Captain Blue/Commander Ed Straker. Great stuff.

Synopsis: The country has been experiencing a wave of blackmail incidents. Scotland Yard believes they are all related because each crime follows a similar pattern. The rich, famous, and influential are being targeted and turning over huge sums of money to protect themselves. Some victims have even committed suicide. Is it an individual or an organization? Will they find the culprit? How can he be stopped?

Well, I hung on till the end, so I can't complain too much. I agree the yank did a great job in this cliche bedecked romp. Fifty four years ago. Loved reading the comments. 😊
very good american accent - unusual in the radio shows. :) 🌷🌱

Very enjoyable light comedic drama with some grisly moments with some veterans of BBC Radio drama repertory company, Grizelda Harvey, James Thomason, Hector Ross and many others. Remake of the June 1954 version with a different cast and originally broadcast as a Saturday Night Theatre drama production on 18th April, 1970.
