Nice one, Charlie. Lots of interesting stuff coming up. Hand filing is madness, but at least you know it'll be done right. Thanks for sharing.

TPI + ported swirl heads + flat top pistons, very mild computer cam is the setup I had on my 85 TA. Might not be anything special today, but surprised people back in the day. Lots of torque. I was really happy with it.

718 on Eric's engine is impressive. I'm glad he used your intake. Thanks for the video. I want to put my 193 heads on a 383 truck engine. Did you get a chance to watch Darin Morgan live on DragBoss garage?

Charles, I'm wanting to build one of my 4.3 v6 engines and I have 2 heads to choose from, the tbi like these and the vortecs so I am watching this with very strong attention. I need about 250cfm in order to get 375hp from one of these engines. Which do you think is better the tbi heads or the cracks vortecs

@@No1414body Do they make an aftermarket vortec 6 banger?
@No1414bodyАй бұрын
@servediocylinderheads yes but they are only available complete at this time, I've seen them in Jegs. If I could get them bare it would be a no brainer
@servediocylinderheadsАй бұрын
@No1414body I see. Getting 250 cfm from a tbi head is no joke. Takes a ton of work.

Promaxx makes a vortec style casting with both vortec (4 bolt) and standard (6 bolt) intake pattern drilled in. Slightly heavier castings and they are new so you don't have to go through many used sets looking for a non-cracked head. They also sell them bare so you can spec them to your needs. Brodix aluminum heads aren't cheap but they will flow. Other alternative is the CPI (central port injection) heads. I don't know if there is a V8 equivalent. They are swirl ports but the chambers seem a little bigger, the runners are enlarged, and they have an injector cut added to the top of the runner. Another benefit is factory screw in rocker studs, ARP makes a stud set specifically for these because the rocker studs have a metric thread on the bottom. These heads were run with a slightly larger cam than the standard TBI, but the motors made about 40HP more. A lot of TBI guys upgrade to the CPI heads on their 4.3's. The plug looks like it is in a decent location but that is one ugly combustion chamber.
@servediocylinderheadsАй бұрын
@@davidreed6070 Yeah, it is better than open chambers bit not as good as Vortec chambers.
