I know this is 2 years old. I watched multiple videos on 5 volt reference. This was simple and made sense. You were the only one that mentioned 5v 1 being the same circuit. I thought each 5v1 was it's own circuit. I had 4 failed sensors. All on 5v1. Cam sensor had an internal ground short causing disruption to the 5v circuit for all.

When I was in automotive paint sales, our old work van would start hesitating and stalling randomly and for a long time we couldn't figure out why after many trips to the shop. They replaced the fuel pump, coil, plugs, wires, practically shooting the parts cannon. The main mechanic gave my boss a promise of all that was holy he would figure it out and went meticulously through harness after harness until he found that when they smashed the harness up between the engine and the firewall, the harness was starting to rub out and one of the 5v reference lines was shorting to ground dropping a whole bunch of systems out and causing the ecu to loose signal of the camshaft and crankshaft sensors.

Hi Eric , I have been watching your videos recently and they are quite helpful I must say . Could you help out in this situation? I bought a 2008 Chevy Express 1500 van 4.3 motor from IAAI auction ,Van ran until they stole the CAT and the welder burnt out ECU when welding exhaust together because he forgot to disconnect battery. Car won’t start , we’ve replaced ECU and TCM , nothing . Now we are looking to replacing ECM, TCM, and BCM . But we are not sure how to go about programming these new computers .Van is currently located in Africa . Is there a good tool you recommend that can diagnose these vehicles properly? What tool should we use to program these modules to start the Van ? Thank you .

THANKS FOR THE VIDEO , IS THERE NOT A SHORTER WAY OF TESTING A PROBLEM LIKE THIS . WHAT IF YOU COULD NOT FIND THE BREAK IN THE WIRE THE WAY YOU TESTED . HAVE YOU EVER TRIED WIRE TRACING WITH A TONE GENERATOR AND PROBE IT WOULD LOOK TO BE MUCH EASIER THAN DIGGING IN TO A FAR RESIST WIRE HARNESS . SOMETIMES THE SHORTEST ROUTE BETWEEN TWO LINES IS NOT THAT STRAIGHT OF A LINE .
@ADVANCEDLEVELAUTO5 жыл бұрын
Yes there are plenty of other methods I could of used and often times do use. I just felt like there was a good chance the wiring was rubbing somewhere obvious. So I decided to quickly inspect the wiring harness. Thanks for watching!

At the Ford house the service writer will call customer (commercial vechiles only) and hv them come down and clean it out themselves or it a $1000 fee for us to clean it out. Can something in the charging system cause a similar problem? I get a battery light every once in a blue moon and it's gone the next time I restart the truck(03 Express 2500 5.3),but lately it's been stalling similar to your case randomly. I replaced the alternator a couple years ago with a new ac delco unit. I had a lean code recently, gonna check my harness and check for vacuum leak anything else you think I should check? Great video!

I did not know about oil pressure gauges until now. I was driving a (new to me) company Ford one time and looked down to see zero oil pressure. I freaked out and pulled over and immediately shut it down. I checked, and it was full of oil! I never trusted it after that.

I had a Jeep that uses 10W-30 oil and would drive it in the winter in -30 C, and when you first start it up on a cold winter day it made 100 psi of oil pressure. I almost wonder if that's another reason for the dummy gauge cause people get worried when the oil pressure gauge pegs high.
