We just bought a '98 Olds Cutlass that was having this issue. I did all the troubleshooting that could cause the compressor to flicker on/off (e.g. bad relay, no refrigerant, bad compressor, etc.) and was going to check this issue next. I appreciated your video because it helped me identify where the tabs are on the back of that terrible GM plastic, and now I can avoid breaking it. 🙃

This is the problem I have on my 2001 Malibu. The panel and controls look identical to the one you worked on. Now I think I can do this myself to fix the AC. Southern CA is just too hot for me not to have AC in the summer, Informative and easy explanation of the process. Thanks.

My '02 Malibu A/C light was coming on intermittently and always thought it had air in the A/C system. Will replace this panel, thanks! Excellent video.

Agreed on the rear wiper washer tips, fix them and avoid the cost of bulk parts just to fix the nozzles. Usually, wiper washers are plugged up due to plain water being used vs. distilled water or a good quality windshield washer fluid that is made with distilled water as its base. Those cheap switches inside cars are best just left on. The more they are used, the sooner they will break. Good review, thank you.

thanks for the informative video; just one comment - i was always taught when working on car electrics, to disconnect the battery? this seems very sensible esp. in this swap out as i notice you're dealing with a "high current" connector...

Great video. I have 2003 Chevy Malibu. I had bought a new control panel after watching this video. Had cancer so I didn’t drive for a year. Meanwhile my mechanic replaced the panel for me. After that the A.C. buttons are even worse than before. I must have gotten a defective one. I know he changed it because he gave me back my old one. Do you have any advice? It’s way too late to complain to where I bought it.

Great illustration! QUESTION: I've cleaned the switch contacts a couple times already. This is my wife's car and since she stopped driving about 8 years ago and this car has been used occasionally. I wonder if my 2002 Malibu problem with only 24K miles of use, is because of lack of use and another good cleaning might solve the problem. Thanks for a very well video.

My Malibu has a temp related problem. It interior is hot control head won't work. If cooler it works intermittently. Hit a bump OFF it goes. Cold weather delivers warm AC treated dry air just fine. Bought a control head from an auto recycling center. See if it works.

I have replaced about six of these in my 2002 Chevy Malibu. Once again the AC stop working, but the AC light comes on? The mechanic is saying it could be the BCM or PCM. I am taking it to another mechanic for a second opinion. Can't afford to replace the PCM if that is the issue.

i got the same car, the buttons on the climate control module don't work, the fresh air in button only stays lit, i have no rear defogger, no ac, and no air recirculation
