Chevy Radiator repair - FAST & EASY

Don't know if you'll see this or not. I have a friend whose breaks have all but stopped working. Not entirely sure if the pedal feels normal as I don't drive it, but I did try to drive it around the block, and pressing the brake didn't do much, took awhile to come to a stop. I bled the lines for her since she said that is what a shop had told her needs to be done. Didn't fix the issue. When the car is on, and I press the brake pedal, there is a hiss. Would that be the booster? Sorry don't know a lot about brakes other than changing pads and shoes and bleeding. Changed a master cylinder once but I wasn't the one that was troubleshooting it. Trying to help her out since she doesn't have another ride, but I don't want to tell her to get a booster and find out that isn't it. I'm not seeing any leaks, and the reservoir is full. She said the shop she took it to said they didn't fill it with any fluid. Not sure why they told her to bleed the brakes TBH. Thanks for any advice

B Shinn Thanks for watching & we hope the helped. Let’s get this figured out together. A hissing sound is 100% tied to a leaking Vacuum Line. We recommend turning engine on & inspecting all lines feeding in & out of Booster. Once you locate the leaking line, you can head to your local AutoZone & show them which line is leaking. At this point, they will be able to get you the exact replacement part for your exact vehicle. Excellent excellent video , but I might add to remove the radiator fans first to make getting the hoses off much easier

How did you get the bottom hose off

Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. We are hanging out today at the DIY Raptor headquarters watching college football answering all questions. The lower hose is tricky due to the clamp. We use the same pliers and maneuvered into position on top of that clamp to compress the two prongs which opens up or expands the clamp itself and you can carefully slide it back to pull hose off. I cannot get that connector apart from the bottom left. How do you disconnect it. You showed it but did disconnect it.

@@DIYwithMichaelBorders yeah I figured it out and no I did not break it. Think about what your viewers need and then give it to them. It's frustrating to spend time and not get what is needed. Help ...some people are suggesting that a person take the entire front bumper. Really why?

What about the transmission cooler lines? Did you loose any ATF during the change? Did the new radiator come with new aluminum crush seals for the trans cooler lines?

zktec1 Thanks for checking out the video. This is the Base model Aveo and is a very basic/simple repair. Drain plug and the few hoses is all 😀👍

You loose less than 0.5oz so nothing to worry about on the ATF side. Once you done the job just let the car idle to very warm temp to ensure your Fan is also kicking in. Than check fluid levels and the job should be complete.
