Very informative and helpful, but I would have liked to see how you reassemble the brush holders, with their springs.

it was a bit difficult but I just positioned the spring in its little groove lined up the holes and shove the pin through.

And the "a bit difficult" is exactly why I would have liked to see you do it!

By looking at armature and brushes the problem was not on the inside. Otherwise, it would of been black dust everywhere. This one just seemed to have burnt out solenoid. Changing brushes is always a good idea. If you would of gotten a brand new solenoid it would of worked. As a rebuilder the trick is always change out the brushes, solenoid and everything else is cosmetics.

Brushes look like new to me. Wonder why he didn't check the contacts in the solenoid?
@jimbuford41478 жыл бұрын
Why didn't you just rebuild the old starter rather than buy a new one since you know how to do it especially if it was just brushes that you needed? Thanks for the detail you provided.

I entered my first comment before I watched all the video. I see it was more than the brushes.

@ZigZag94 жыл бұрын
Yes. it sounds like your starter is getting overheated.
@thinkingimpaired56633 жыл бұрын
Might need a heat shield over solenoid or whole starter.

He should have marked the outside with silver sharpy then you wont be having trouble putting it back together
@ZigZag96 жыл бұрын
Well if you listen to the video and not fall asleep like you mentioned in the other one I note that there are scribe marks on the case to mark how everything goes back together. Pay attention to details.

I expected to see you shoe a complete inspection of the wear pattern on the armature and clean the magnets, check with a bench test before disassembly and check the solenoid for needed repairs etc. . If you were just going to replace the brushes and not the bushings, which should always be replaced with brushes, then you should have stated in the start, brush replacement and how to take it apart ! Otherwise, a lot of wasted time for a beginner to expect a complete help, only to get a five minute how to do one thing. Glad I'm experienced enough to do a full check and rebuild and not counting on yours for a full rebuild or explanation. sorry, this is a remove it or go back and redo it right.

@@ZigZag9 good video people don't listen to your explanation of why you are working on your spare starter.

You need to use the proper tool to work around the brushes
