Dude, I'm addicted to watching your videos, seriously. You (in my opinion) do such a great job articulating & explaining details which is why I'm addicted. You really break things down to the most smallest of things that can easily be understood for most. I would really like to see a video that breaks down what everything is and means on those electronic diagrams, I'm sure there's viewers who follow you just great but as a beginner in diagnosticing using the electrical layouts. Would like to learn and understand what all I'm looking at as I follow along. Keep up the great lessons, much useful and appreciated 👍

Great video. Most people have no idea when it comes to electrical problems!!
@spelunkerd5 жыл бұрын
Excellent troubleshooting, well explained. I found myself pausing the video to think the problem through for myself, then I would resume when I had decided what to do next. Side by side, the Mitchell diagrams are much easier to read, but if the details are not accurate there is a problem. I wonder if those PCB relays are the future, it will make repairs and even diagnosis significantly more expensive. It would have been fun to tear down the old fuse box to see what is inside. Microscopic diagnosis is a whole new field, interesting to follow the new technology.

very informative. I'm an "electrician" in the military so it's easy to follow along on the diagrams. I wish I had access to all of that. I have a 2007 silverado with wiper problems that led me here. unfortunately my problem is a little different so I'm still stumped. the wipers don't return to park. and no matter what intermittent setting I put them on, they run full speed. it seemed like it would be the switch so I just replaced it and the problem persists.

Just found your channel and love your videos! Your diag process is helpful and easy to understand. I work on lots of brands and have found many discrepancies with non OE wiring diagrams. Currently I'm at a transmission shop so I'd love to see how you go about dealing with sensor/solenoid/internal faults, particularly on Japanese brands. Thanks for the quality content!

I've seen that quite a bit with Mitchell diagrams. That's why I try to get a factory diagram when possible. Don't get me wrong, Mitchell is usually spot on, but I have seen the errors quite a bit. And I was thinking.. It showed that it was on high speed but it sure didn't look like high. then again, that could be caused by under-powered battery. And another great video. Thanks!

Very VERY thorough investigation and near final diagnosis. To be clear, you’re leaps and bounds ahead on the level of knowledge you have compared to me. My personal opinion (as if it matters) is that you went through a whole lot troubleshooting to narrow it down beyond every main component that most would have replaced and failed. But with that said, you were all the way to finding the last tiny puzzle piece and replaced the entire fuse box. Just out of extreme curiosity, why not find the shorted wire? You were literally right there, everything apart, couldn’t be closer, ruled out motor, switches, BCM, loose grounds, replays, etc. and all the way to te final gray wire as the culprit. Why not trace back that one wire? I truly don’t understand! With all that knowledge, access to diagrams, scan tools, and diagnostic equipment, you bought a whole new MAIN fuse box? Please tell me what I’m missing? I watched every second of your 30-minute video, while rare for me to do, you held my interest, taught me a lot, and stopped an inch before the finish line. Honestly, was it more about the billing, or was there seriously too much to go through at that point to narrow down that last piece? When I say “billing”, I mean, a customer might not understand the cost if you charged them $500 for diagnosis and repair of a tiny wire, so better to bill for an entire fuse box so it’s obvious (to the uninformed) that installing an entire fuse box could be very costly. I mean if they watched this video, they’d certainly have realized all the time and necessary equipment required to find that short. Again, very confused if that wasn’t the reason?!?! PLEASE?

My 2018 3500 6.0 does this too. I’m gonna diagnose it with your video but for some reason switching into and out of 4x4 while fiddling with the blade speeds usually fixes it

Looks like you cut a 2nd wire in there too (or nicked it pretty hard). Glad you pointed out the mis-printed wiring diagram. I noticed the slow speed wiper and you were pointing to high speed lines. Those diodes steer power as well, and should be considered. So... did you find the problem? You left us hanging with this video.

Excellent video, I recently found your site and enjoy your troubleshooting procedures very professional. Looking at all of the muddy water residue it appears the owner may have been out 'weekend muddin' with it and no cover on the fuse block or with the cover in place a poor design by GM to keep water out. At the end you show the NEW fuse block installed with a cover in place. Is this a new cover or the original cover that has been thoroughly cleaned?

@hendy45843 жыл бұрын
This is excellent and I took a lot away from it but in the end you had to replace the fuse box to repair this and you didn’t actually show that part. Does this mean the entire fuse box or simply the fuse block that the wiring goes to? I have a similar issue whereby the wipers don’t work at all. The motor and combination switch have both been replaced with no change and I have 12V going into the yellow wire on the motor with good ground but no signal to the green or purple wires. This tells me one or both of the relays in the fuse box is no good.

Thank You Eric! Great Diagnostic & repair as always! Just curious ... why You do not check signal integrity and PCM outputs as one the fists diagnostic steps? Back in my collage years... 1980s - professors was saying to us: power and ground first, circuits integrity and surface conditions as second and input and output maps and status as a third step than networks maps and protocols consistency. I`m from industrial automation and robotics,.. but cars is practically the same thing - just complicate in the different way... P.S. Very sad... Your shop is far away from NYC and I can`t be a Your customer...

Wipers frooze to windshield they just stopped thought it was the fuse, but no. I ran a ground wire from motor housing to ground without i get nothing. They turn on high and low and the delay works and can turn them off. More often than not you turn them on they work fine in low or high but only stop running if you shut off the engine go back to park. Could this be a ground issue in the fuse panel ?

So do you have to replace the fuse box or a 1 fuse?
@stevewarren30515 жыл бұрын
Not trying to be critical but, I think it would be a good idea to seal off the areas of wire you probe by piercing the insulator. Eric O. at SMA seals the pierced insulator with liquid masking tape. Also, I don't understand why you had to cut the wire from the BCM. Why couldn't you just measure the voltage on that wire when the key was off?

Diagram is right but you kept calling the high speed side as the low speed. Looks like the bcm is supposed to have voltage to allow the park function which is most likely the cause.
