it still to this day gives me a smile hearing people I know are basically trained killers describe the same experience even the lowest level amateurs go through. I remember in my first fight other fighters who'd never met me were commenting they were afraid I was going to get destroyed in the ring since I looked so scared. The doc even told me I should back out cause my blood pressure was 190/140 in the prefight physical, I was that flat out scared for that long. Just like you said, once I got my gloves on, a little warmed up and in the ring it all shut off; I went out and embarrassed a much bigger and way more athletic looking opponent. If you've put in the gym time you'll go out and put on the best show you can win or lose.

Big props to anyone bold enough to voluntarily go there! My hands are sweating and I feel like I’m about to get in a fight just listening to this! But I guess that’s the point- these are normal chemicals and the normal feelings that come with them - the feelings can’t hurt you and when you allow them to be there they affect you less. For lifetime wrestlers: treat it like a wrestling match. Stay focused. Just like you wrestle your match: fight your fight. YOU set the pace. YOU are the bad draw for the opponent Arms in, very much like Greco to keep your hips guarded. Stalk and fight and take it a millisecond at a time.

I just had my first MMA fight last week and came away with the victory! I had a whole mix of emotions throughout my camp. I was so excited once my fight had gotten booked... then, I felt afraid. I had so much fear - fear of getting knocked out, fear of getting taken down and not being able to get back up, just being afraid that I would get completely demolished. I started to feel more and more confident as camp progressed. Fight week I had felt anxious, but it was under control. You're absolutely right that there is a level of nerves that everyone feels - we just express it differently. As soon as I got into the cage, I felt so calm and at peace and then BOOM! It was ready to fight. Train hard, train smart, be present, and have fun are the biggest pieces of advice I would say if you are fighting soon for the first time 😄

@IShowFastness It’s a mental thing bro so go into the fight already knowing you’re gonna win otherwise if you are to nervous you are going to freeze up and if it’s a no headshot fight you honestly got nothing to worry about control him with your wrestling also most fighters are weak to being walked down and pressured take the center of the cage or ring and keep him on his back foot this lets him know you’re not scared to engage him despite his experience
@ijonharris6582 жыл бұрын
@IShowFastness No problem man and an experienced fighter doesn’t except someone making their debut to pressure them or walk them down so If there’s anything that you need to do it’s make sure you take his confidence by getting in his face and pushing the action You got this and good luck on your fight Brotha 👊🏽

Chewy i have a question: when I was younger I was fighting alot. I had a couple amature bouts and when I sparred we went CRAZY hard. Like blood on mats all the time hard... anyway, my toughest fight was against an experienced (semi-pro) cage fighter with a few k.o.s under his belt.. long story short dude beat the living dog shit out of me to the point I never wanted to fight again. Took a while to get rid of the pre-fight jitters but after that beat down I've been TERRIFIED to have that happen to me all.over again. Its taken me 10 years to start training again and the pre fight jitters are back again. But worse.. do you have any tips or experiences like that before and how did you handle it?

I'm about to start my amateur mma journey but I wrestled for 4 years and everytime I stepped on the mat with the first opponent i had trouble getting out of my head elite wrestler, musclehead or a bum always have had trouble before the event started and I'm nowhere near that shape I was in a few years ago but I share this burden with you but after the first takedown all else ceass to exist and you fight for your survival I would try to keep my heart rate down and keep myself distracted at the beginning of most tournaments that's why Im working on pre fight emotion and loosening up before the first burst watch me on streetbeefs on KZbin on 4/6/18 for a beautiful knockout because I'm confident is my power and athletic ability I will end up on top and smesh

Hey chewy, what do you think I should do when other white belts ask me to teach them techniques? I don’t want to show them things that aren’t as good as it could be and maybe make them lose a competition or something like that, but I also don’t want to be mean and not help them when they ask me. I usually show them but also tell them that I’m also a white belt and that there might be better ways of doing things but this is how I do it. Should I keep doing this or always just tell them to ask the instructor instead? I also had my first competition last week and it went great! Your videos have helped me a lot especially mindset wise and I wanted to thank you for that. :)

Can you give me some advice. Idk when it happened but back then I would train as much as I can and roll would anyone but after receiving my blue belt for some reason I pick and choose who I spar with. Im a very small guy(5:3) in a gym of guys that are 5:8 and I would usually go against the bigger guys but for some reason I’d try to avoid the smaller guys.
