2:20 I think it's wayyyyyy harder to get a black belt. I have an MBA, all you have to do is follow directions which many people just arent good at doing in an academic setting. BJJ black belt takes grit and hard work over 10 years for most people. (I'm a white belt with 3 stripes just started a year ago). Getting my blue belt will be way more satisfying then getting my MBA. Honestly, every stripe I got means more to me than my degree

I’m a student. Getting a degree is hard because it’s a lot of work everyday, not always so fun, full of stress and lack of sleep. Getting a black belt is hard too (I’m only a blue belt), but the hard work put into training is FUN, addicting, satisfying and something I can’t get enough of. So I think getting a degree is harder, because most of the time I’d rather do something else. Getting a black belt takes longer, but the journey is fun.

As a blue belt, I beat myself up a lot about not being able to handle spazzy white belts, I'll have to keep your comments in mind going forward. Thanks for posting this!

I have a masters degree…been training for 21 months and still a white belt 😂. Masters degree is more intense in the short term since it’s 40-50 hours a week between studying, classes, papers, homework, etc., whereas I only train bjj 4-5 times a week for 8-10 hours. I’d say masters degree is easier by a long shot…

For me I think it's easier to get a master's degree than a black belt. I've been a white belt for ages because of injuries and then COVID (gym closed). And now I'm 2 years away from my master's. BJJ hasn't worked out for me in the past five years but I'm hopeful for the next five.

Thanks for the insightful video ! I have a very young daughter and she's energetic and playful, I think she will love sports too and hope we can share this passion. Could you tell us about experiences you had teaching kids, if you have kids or if you gave classes to kids ? It can be very random, I'm just genuinely curious about your opinion on that matter.

If you like Ernest Becker, you should check out Terror Management Theory(a social psychology theory). The book “The worm at the core” is a great intro and the theory was inspired by Becker’s work and essentially applied Becker’s ideas into experimental social psychology.

Horses are really heard animals and their best in companions. You really should look into getting another horse whether be a mini, or even like an equine cousin like a donkey. Depending on the horse some of them can do okay alone but most of them are far better in a small herd or pair

The Masters Degree question is an odd one because I mean a masters degree in anything? Cus earning a Masters Degree in Psychology is super ridiculously easy, very little challenge at all, is the quivalent of earning a black belt in a Karate dojo at the mall and yep I will absolutely smear on that subject just like I would philosophy, liberal arts, gender studies, anthropology and advertising, if you haven't gone to college yet avoid these degree majors at all costs. Earning a black belt in Jiu Jitsu to me is more like earning a PhD rather than a Masters Degree (of course alot of it depends on an instructor too, some teachers like giving out candy), and just like the sport itself it's in something difficult like Endocrinology, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Accounting and yeah practically any actual medical degree that'll make way for an easy job scoring for you. I think it's funny cus I'll practically be earning my Masters Degree and Brown Belt at the same time, then all that's left is a Black Belt and PhD, which one was more difficult? The schooling for sure, it was much more demanding and the classes were of a variety from something like Anatomy & Physiology to Bio-Chemistry, also in the program I am required to obtain no less than a B for my program classes so there's that, and I've had to do community service, join clubs and get specific entry level positions to even graduate so yeah, I know this is alot to write but I think this is a more detailed answer to that persons question. Sure I don't have a black belt yet but at this point I'm too far to stop (Been doing Jits for over 11 years, barely getting a Brown Belt lolz) and I don't see any reason to ever be quitting Jiu Jitsu especially considering the fact that I'll have more extra time once I graduate, plus more money to compete. And just like with Jiu Jitsu to anybody who's serious about college my advice is for you to get into a career that's needed, that not too many people have gotten into and where school is very demanding, the more competitive it is the more likely you're going to be a necessity to society, anything easy is what makes people a dime a dozen my friend, no matter how tough the journey is, never quit and never give up, take your time too, it's not about how fast you finish, it's about finishing. If you're fast then that's on you, the key is being successful.
