First week in BJJ. I think understanding the importance of always having good grips is the most important lesson I have learned so far. That, and not forgetting to breathe.

Totally, that's what Rickson Gracie talks a lot about in his book as well. And the name of the book is even named "breathe". It's so important, I think it even helps me remain calmer during rolls when I control my breathing.

Corny jokes are the best because you get a little chuckle with very little thought and then move on. For example: what is the difference between a hippo and a Zippo? ones really heavy and the other is a little lighter. I'm sure this just brightened up someone's day.

Chewy! I included this tips on class tonight and I was sweeping a partner 70 Pounds+ heavier than me, EFFORTLESS!! To get that good deep grip on the lapel it's crucial against tall/heavier opponents to really break their posture and leg that goes next to his leg REALLY needs to be completely flat no kidding and finally what helped my momentum was the detail of using your chest to kinda 'push' and help your opponent turn..amazing..2 week white belt here! thank you sir! Hey Chad no liabilities!

As a multiple stripe blue belt this kind of thing is gold. The devil is in the details, I am always looking to revisit moves to make them smoother and more effective. I feel there is no better way then going over the basics. Thank you and I look forward to seeing more!

Great details as usual, I also like to grab the gi on the seam around their triceps (Roger Gracie likes that grip) , it gives great control over the arm and when I sweep I punched that arm in. Excellent details. The only thing I do different is grab mid forearm maybe a little closer to the elbow. That grip helps me prevent them from using their hand or elbow from pinning my leg and passing the guard with a knee slice. It also helps me pull them off their base a little bit further. Just my two cents.

Hi Chewie not lame at all :) You could just add some probable defences the person on the top is going to use (like lifting the knee up etc) and possible variation to counter those (like hooking under the leg and kicking the knee) and the video will be a masterclass in scissor sweep. Loved it as it is so just a humble suggestion. Like others I would like a series of these too. Many thanks for your and Chad's time and efforts.
