The last part of the series I showed how to do a north south choke from the armbar position. Today I show how to setup a Kimura attack as a decoy. Basically what happens is as we attack the Kimura (which is a legitimate submission threat that you can finish anytime) the person is no longer thinking about their original arm or neck. This allows us then to transition to those submissions easier . . . if of course we decide not to finish the Kimura.

Great points. What I notice when I roll with the purple and brown belts is they attack multiple things at the same time. If I counter one, they have the other.

I can hit this arm bar on lower belts but higher belts really protect there arms and keep them tight to their bodies.

The kata you are referring to is known as Chon Ji. It is the yellow belt pattern in ITF taekwondo ;)

If I'm side/north south kimura hunting and asomeone locks there arms together I'll go to my knees and pretend I'm about to try to strength them into the kimura for a second and switch to scissor choke.

After passing guard if the elbow is tucked in I like to go to kesa gatame to capture that elbow to get back to an unblocked side control. If i capture that elbow and throw my hip side leg short that puts the arm under the opposite grip will the armbar still submit?
