Making a Yarn Tension Ring for Knitting and Crochet

I've been crocheting a lot and the yarn was creating an indent on my finger so I decided to make a tension ring to help with that!

I'm not the video creator, but I also make jewelry with wire, and it looks like 18, 19, or 20 gauge wire was used to make the tension ring. I wouldn't use wire thinner than 20 gauge, as even after hammering it flat, it might still be too flexible to hold its shape well. I'm using 18 gauge to make my tension ring. Use a metal that you can wear without irritation; I'm using sterling silver, but I'm making a couple of practice rings with copper wire first.
