If I had to watch one playoff game from the last 20 years, it's got to be Game 5 between the Knicks and the Bulls. Not only was a trip to the Finals riding on that game, but legacies were at stake as well. Would MJ have had the same legacy had they fallen to the Knicks? Would Ewing have been revered by New York with a win against a MJ-led Chicago Bulls team? Who knows...

This was a team that became great over the course of time. Starting in 84 with MJ, the acquisition of Paxson in 85, 87 with the drafting of Pippen and Grant, 88 with the trade for Cartwright, they bonded together on the court, and became great. That's what makes this 93 team so satisfying. They learned and lost and hurt, but once they learned, they just kept winning. Even tired, even banged up, even splintering from internal strife, even playing into June for the third straight year, even taking on all comers, even getting everybody's best shot, they kept winning. That's hard. One of the sad things about the current era of free agency is that guys won't play together long enough to bond into a tight unit like this.

Next time, do your research before you come up with a strawman argument you numnuts.

@John D Walker Probably LeBron what? Please don't tell me we have another person on here that knows how to type but not how to count or do basic math. LeBron is 4-6 in the Finals. He got swept twice in the Finals. He's lost more than he has won. He is 19% in the clutch for 100 final shots. Jordan is 51% in the clutch. LeBron has 1 Scoring Title. Jordan has 10 consecutive scoring titles. LeBron has no Steals Tiles and NO Defensive Player of the Year Award. Jordan has 3 Steals Titles and a DPOY, during the same years he got scoring titles. They were idiots in that Miami series and got caught making a huge mental error when they left the bench area against the Heat resulting in all of those suspensions. The Bulls didn't beat themselves, but the Knicks turned it into an art form---this coming from a Knicks fan. Credit to Jordan and Jackson for keeping their team composed.

I agree that Game 5 was a clear victory for the Suns, but come on...not a single Bulls highlight? there was a sick dunk by Pippen in the 1st quarter when the Bulls were recovering some lost ground.

Michael Jordan in his prime. Had he not retired after 93 he would've almost assuredly won 4 in a row and most likely another league MVP. LeBron is a freak athlete and most likely a top 5 player but he will never eclipse the Superstardom almost Rockstar like level of celebrity MJ had after this season. Charles won the MVP by default really. He was great and was just as vital to his teams success as anyone during this time but it was clear as day obvious who the best player in the world was in the 90s. MJ lead the league in scoring again and could take over a game at will and Charles knows he was given the award because Michael didn't mind throwing his best buddy at the time a bone because he knew the championship was his and Charles deserved to be recognized as he was definitely the 2nd best player that year.

I'm in the rare percentage when I say I believe the first 3 peat team were better then the 96 to 98 because. The 91 to 93 bulls were younger and more athletic ....... I'll go to my grave thinking that

@Anish Gandhi Believe it or not, that '91 Laker team was statistically better than a few of the Kareem teams. Vlade Divacs was no scrub and a close to retirement Kareem wasn't what he used to be. Magic was also still at the tail end of his MVP caliber prime (it's the HIV diagnosis that triggered his early retirement, not any decline in play). People (usually people with ulterior motives like LeBron stans, though you don't appear to be one) like to pretend that it was easy for the '91 Bulls (and the Pistons weren't "old" either...at all), but it wasn't. They were just really good. That said, of course it was easier a few games into the finals after Worthy and Scott were sidelined. But injuries (and bad calls) happen and there are too many other what ifs we could ask about many championship outcomes if you want to go there.

Toni Kukoc was an all-star level player coming off the bench for the 2nd team. Even if you want to call everything else a wash with Kerr-Paxson, Grant-Rodman, and Longley-Cartwright, no one on the first team comes remotely close to Kukoc. The 97 Bulls also had Bison Dele who averaged 16-9 as a starter for other teams in that period.

One of the most memorable aspects of the first three-peat was Chicago Stadium. What a venue for fans. Easily the loudest stadium, the balconies were right on top of the floor and a very old school ambience (for better and worse of course)

47:05, this is what puts Jordan ahead of the rest for me. When most of the team felt the game slipping away, he found the strength, will, and courage to tell his team to calm down and see that there’s still time on the clock to when. No bad body language, complaining or deficiencies, just encouragement and timely words. That’s greatness.

Man Danny Ainge played on some really good teams. He played for the Celtic's for a few years, then he played on Portland and then on the Suns. At least he played on good teams.

I keep reliving all these old and classic teams and season's because I love them miss them and way better than sports today. I miss the loyalty guys had. Truly great team's, when you think of the bulls you think of Mike, pistons Zeke, lakers Magic, celtics Bird, houston Hakeem, atlanta Wilkins new york Ewing. They would get drafted and be loyal to that team. Owners also were more loyal. Sports are just a business now and major reason I wont and can't watch any of them anymore.

The amazing thing about Chicago's 6 chips was in my opinion and others is that Seattle and Phoenix and Utah were better teams overall then Chicago Bulls. They could have went 3-3 in those 6 finals, instead of 6-0. but the big difference maker was Michael Jordan !

Kevin Johnson was a real superstar in his era - if you haven't seen his game - make sure you watch some of his highlights. This just elevated how great the bulls were by beating the Suns for the Chip!

@ 10:57 I want to make a correction there. The Bulls were NOT "trailing by 1" when he hit the "shot part 2" against the Cavs. The game was tied. The Bulls were also up 3-0 in the series. It was a typical Jordan being Jordan and showing everyone he was the GOAT with his clutch shooting. However, the stakes were not as big as they were with the first shot in 1989 where they would have been eliminated if he missed the shot.
