We've never seen this happen before. Earlier the house wren came into the box and broke the eggs. Then the house wren started removing nest material. That's when the chickadee came into the box and attacked the house wren.

Apparently typical of criminals across all species to behave like the victim when they get caught lol

It's funny how House Wrens sneak into boxes to throw eggs and young out, and yet when they get cornered by birds as small as a chickadee, they get their rear ends handed to them. I've seen this happen by Bluebirds and Tree Swallows too. Didn't realize Chickadees would put up this much of a fight.

Good to see that wren is bein killed. it is a angry enemy: it kills chicks if enters a nestbox with chicks. And the chickadee did it professionally!

Unbelievable! I thought that chickadees are timid, usually attacked by other birds like sparrows,

Did the wren survive? Or was it dead by the time it stopped chirping? Thanks.

So what happened? The Wren appeared dead, because the Chickadee was plucking its feathers and it wasn't even flinching. Wow, I had no idea Chickadees could be so vicious. If the Wren did survive, I bet he won't ever enter that box again!

Very interesting! This is very much a human behavior, to me.
