My hens are about 11 months old and didn't start laying until 5 months. Gotten used to double yoke eggs but day after I changed their nesting hay I found a fairy egg which tells me my chickens don't like change that causes them to get upset and do weird things like this. Glad to know this fairy egg knowledge. God bless.

How fun, love getting the tiny eggs! The ones in the yard I notice are usually super small, like a complete accident lol. The ones in the box they actually went and tried to lay, too cute 😂

@@BockBockBouquet I put out a video today. I agree with you that one was a mistake in the yard and one was an attempt to lay a "real" egg.

One of our chickens layed a fairy egg today! We boiled it lol it was completely yolkless(?) It was oddly tinted yellow but very faint.
@BockBockBouquet2 жыл бұрын
We actually got one yesterday too! Oh that’s cool I’ve never tried to boil them. Yeah it could just be kind of a tiny broken yolk. As long as your hen isn’t constantly laying them there is nothing wrong. We used to always crack them but I think I’m going to start blowing them out and keeping them as decorations lol

I just got one this morning... glad I found your channel.. I was so worried... BLONDIE lays good... a week before she laid a weird egg with no yolk... she was back to normal in no time... I cuddled her and gave her kisses and told her I love her eggs or no eggs and she doesn’t have to lay... poor thing.

I have 8 black Australorps and they finally laid (5) eggs today. I got them June 17th. All 5 are small, maybe 60% the size of your typical egg, probably the size of the first egg you cracked near the end. Good to know why this is happening. I was laughing when I saw them!

First eggs can be small for hens. These fairy eggs are for those that have laid normal for a while. Your hens will give bigger eggs lol

My chicken are laying big eggs but the last two days there was 2 small eggs like the little brown egg that u put in the frying pan What’s the reason why they lay small eggs
@BockBockBouquet2 жыл бұрын
There are a few reasons, it could be stress for one. If they are young hens that are brand new layers it could happen as they’re body and hormones are still getting used to laying & they could have these accident eggs. Also older hens that are starting to lay again after taking a break from laying from less daylight hours or if they are molting and loosing & regrowing new feathers. It’s normal and nothing to be alarmed of. Their next eggs should be normal. These are usually eggs being laid without a yolk being released from their ovoduct and a shell is formed around an egg white

I’m a 1st time chicken owner. One of my four hens started laying 4 days ago. They have ben small, but perfect with a perfect shell. Yesterday she skipped a day, but laid one this morning about 10am. It was almost 8pm and she was waddling to coop (almost bed time) her walk was kinda strange and kind of puffed up then as she’s walking she just dropped a second egg in the yard (only 10 hours later). The egg had a very soft shell and a little cord attached to it. What happened? She seems ok and put herself to bed, but should I be worried? Here’s her laying schedule so far. 8/4 10:30am laid 1st egg 8/5 4:20 pm laid 2nd egg 8/6 NO EGG 8/7 10:00am 3rd egg 8/7 8:00 pm while walking, squatted and another soft shell egg with little cord attached. Hope someone can help with this. Thank you!

that bird you called an olive egger is not an Americauna.
@BockBockBouquet2 жыл бұрын
She is a Black Copper Marans crossed with a Swedish Isbar (Silverudds Blue) so she received her blue egg gene from the Isbar not Ameraucana. Ameraucana is the breed that the Americana is derived from. Americana are just mixed breeds from Ameraucanas commonly called the Easter egger characterized by their muffy beards. Our girl strongly resembles a French Marans with her dark olive colored egg and heavily feathered feet. You can also make olive Eggers from crossing with Cream Legbars as they have a blue egg gene and bear a striking crest

Does this type of small eggs hatch coz i have one
@BockBockBouquet2 жыл бұрын
How did it go? I would think they would have a low survival rate as the yolk is their food reserve and gives them a healthy immune system at hatch
